Hey guys,

Spotted this black M3 today in Camarillo, Ca. Had to chase him down to get some pics!!!

Sorry about the reflection of my shirt in the window...

Looks really nice. Not sure if the vents on the side like the pics in the mags.

Enough talk, now for the pics:

I don't like it either. After seeing some spy shots of the e93 I realized why they made it so freaking long... it's to fit the hard top into the trunk. The car has been completely comprimised for ultra-efficiency and massive human consuption!

sorry to say this, but i m disappointed too by its softer look. e46 looks so aggressive, it is an animal, just from the look. the new one reminds me of clk, too girly.

Well I would have to disagree with you guys. I took the pics and You could see the potential in person. Take all the plastic coverings off and its bad a$$. It has very similar styling cues as the M6 and M5. And it sounded great too. he even revvvved it up for me!

Anyway, just my opinion...

It's actually not that long. Most of these pictures seem to be from cell phone cameras and smaller P&S cameras that have essentially very wide angle lenses. The extremely short focal lengths (usually on the order of 10mm or so) tend to horribly exaggerate perspective.

I was at the little "ride and drive" event in Atlanta a couple of weekends ago and the car's length proportions aren't any different than the E46 coupes.

These shots were from a Canon Power Shot. But I agree that the angle could make it look longer than it is... It looked like any other M3, Just HOTTER!!!

I guess we'll see. But I agree the new M3 needs to show some muscular lines. If I buy the M3 it won't be because it is a sleeper. All the spy pics leave me a bit cold so far.

Thought this was funny. An admin of another forum took my pics and posted them on his forum!

In a way it is pretty cool, that they got around in one day!!!

And someone said something about my shirt on there too! LOL

I wouldn't buy the mule either. But I'd probably buy the production model as it's likely to have styling cues, fender flares, intake meshes, wheels, gills, and exhaust.

Fool.

Ever consider that's just a regular 3 coupe and they're testing iDrive software or DTC/DSC logic, which I believe is all written in California? It's not like they would replace their test mules with production models just because BMW debuted it.

Looks like the same car I saw on the 101 the other day. Was the guy driving sporting a shaved head, kinda heavy set? I only caught a glimpse of him but he looked like he had a clean dome.

Yea, That is the same car, same guy!!!

And westwest888, This is no regular 3 series testing the iDrive. I know that for many reasons, the main one being that he revved it up for me, and it was Mmmazing!!! LOL

Anyone who has heard an Mcar could tell, It was definitely an M...

What the crap did you haters expect the M3 to look like? The new M3 is a smooth transition from the old model. Nothing too "out there" lol...except for maybe the front bumper. This is automobile royalty! After seeing these pics and then watching all the videos of the new M3. This car is going to be AWESOME. It's wider..a little longer( I'm not sure if I like that or not) It looks more aggressive. I can't wait to see the side gills. If you have the means to purchase this car you need to go ahead and be part of the royal family.

Yeah, I don't understand some people's post's either. The E46 M3 looks exactly like a coupe E46 to me with side sills. Boring! Looks like they're doing the same thing with the E92 M3. Looks just like the coupe. Why hate this one then?

That's exactly why I don't like it... because it looks like the E92. This is what I've been saying, if you don't like the E92, you're not going to like the E92 M3. There is only so much you can do with wider fenders and wheels, more agressive air dam and a hood bulge. And I'm not a "hater", just disappointed. I wanted to like it. I was planning on this being my next car. I'm still trying to like it, but I think I'll end up in a Z4M Coupe. Just personal opinions, no need to label as haters.

An FYI FRom the guy that saw it in person...

It is a lot meaner looking than the Standard coupe. All the parts that make is the "M3" are covered up... So yes, I would agree that in the pics it looks like the coupe. But you have to imagine the M3 Body cues...

Thats all I have to say! I love the thing!!! :whip:

Don't give up on the M3 that easy. I think you already had it in your head you weren't gonna like it.....

Let's not get our panties in a bunch just yet! The car hasn't even been revealed yet and we all know that things can turn out differently than what spy pics purportedly show. Only a few more days until the mystery ends....then we can come back here and bash the real car! :D

I still say the E46 looks a million times better, I don't care how fast the E92 is.

from every spy pic I have seen, except for one. I don't like the body at all. Maybe when the real one comes out it will have a much meaner look.
But, Maybe just maybe. This is part of BMW's plan, make everyone talk a bunch of crap for publicity and then come out with something totally different than what everyone has seen in the spy pics.
and maybe they will throw in 90 more HP, to take it to 500hp.. But that ofcourse only happens in fairy tales.

I agree - the shape so far seems really slopey, and the rear end just fades away. The coupe looks great from the front, but the rear just sort of gives up.

So far the E46 looks lot more like the business - i hope they add the anger to the M3 design, because otherwise it's going to be called a Chicks Car - and i'm not paying $160k+ Aussie dollars for one that looks this wimpy (about 120k USD) - Yes BMW RIPS US OFF OVER HERE!!

WOW... 120K USD.... for that price here in the US you could get the new porsche 480hp 911 turbo, an M6, or even an used 360 ferrari

A new M6 in Aus is about 215k AUD - about 160k USD.
