Secured the nights of 4 and 5 May. Is this too early to be getting excited about the next 'Fest?
Nope, just something to look forward to.

I don't think we got any discount over the Internet rates last year. Heck, this year they'll probably tack on a surcharge for property damage, if anything..:tsk:

Yeah, I kind of didn't want to mention anything about being there for bimmerfest just in case. HOpefully whoever did that won't be back or will at least have matured.

Talked to Jed and Penny at the Ramada and they will not reserve it for BF only... and actually they said you better get your rooms NOW... Cinco De Mayo is one of the city's busiest weekends and the hotels will fill even without BF being there.

:D I booked my reservation today. So what rate did you get?
At the Lemon Tree, $149 /night (+12% tax). Probably not the most luxurious(it has wifi!), but the Crocodile Bar & Restaurant is killer. Crawling distance to the room.
Things NOT to forget this year::mad:
1. Camera
2. Walkie Talkie
3. Laptop
4. Sunblock
5. Chair
6. Put my front plate back on for the drive up.

I just looked, I'm at $132.05 per night for room 119. That was a king mountainside w/ rollaway bed for SWISS to piss on. Last night the rooms were only up to 159 to start and the site would have let me make a new reservation so apparently they aren't full yet, or at least the website wasn't updated.

Hi guys,
Sounds like Bimmerfest is pretty cool. I have never been west of PA, but i really would like to drive west. Now I know someone going to school in Santa Barbara, CA and I thought it be great to make the trip together with the meet.
But for someone that's totally unfamiliar with CA (and a Norwegian) and Bimmerfest, does anyone have some facts about exactly where it is, what goes on, what exact hotels to use etc.? And tips maybe?
Appreciate it. Hopefully the 528 will make it over.

Well, I've only been to last years but I read about the previous ones.
What seems to be the main hotel for folks is the Ramada Inn. In a nutshell, what happened last year was:
People showed up. A gazillion BMW's took over the parking lot. The hotel has a car wash area and folks were detailing their whips. Lots of people get drunk in the parking lot. Several folks got together and had a caravan out to Santa Barbara. I didn't go but I'm assuming that the group raided State St.
People came back and went to a fast food place across the street from the RI, chatted, drank more, took pix, worshipped each others whips then went back to the RI for several different room parties.
Most everyone I knew woke up w/ a raging hangover and headed to the fair grounds early the next morning where there was lots going on. I pretty much just chilled in one spot w/ some now good friends of mine just b/c walking and I didn't agree w each other at the time, but there was a lot of cars to look at.
That night there was what I understand to be a traditional party at this place called the Elephant Bar. I didn't make it there thanks to a certain so and so who forgot to tell me when they were leaving. Next morning everyone leaves however this is Cinco de Mayo weekend for this coming fest so I would imagine that some folks are going to be doing other stuff or hanging around town for an extra day or so.
5 May is a huge Mexican holiday. From what I've heard from some friends of mine who are going to make the fest, we'll all be needing a bunch of coffee for the mornings and a spare liver or two for the parties there that weekend. I can't fugging wait.

Anyways, the Ramada is defenately the place to be but if you can't make it there, there are some other hotels on mid State St. that are pretty close and should have plenty of people there for the event!

There is a pool and hot tub. I sat out by the pool last year - I hope its warmer this year :D
Friday afternoon there will be lots of car washing/people watching going on in the parking lot. Dinner out, party back at the hotel afterward. You'll be hard pressed not to find someone to talk to/party with Friday night.
Saturday is the the 'Fest. Last year I spent almost all day at the fairgrounds. Can't remember what I did Saturday night

I booked at Best Western Encinas for two nights and it was almost $4 bones. Most of the hotels I checked were booked, but Hotel Oceana should have some rooms left. They were at $199/night. I chose Encinas to be closer to downtown and Bimmerfest. Oceana's down by the beach.. seemed like a sweet hotel though.

They're nothing to write home about, my Wife and I stayed there last summer and it was ok.
Hell, I even told her I'd rather stay at the Ramada next time instead of there.
Her response was, "but the ocean's not across the street at the Ramada".
I couldn't argue that though! :D
I have to say though, I love the "shangra la" lagoon/pool area outside the Ramada rooms, it feels like you're somewhere tropical.

kinda right around the corner and down the street
Wow, nice find. Maybe you had to stay two nights to get that deal? Either way, awesome.
1995_e36M3Blue: Check Expedia.com or Travelocity.com to find hotels in Santa Barbara. Most are sold out by now though. Good luck!

How are you guys finding this deal? I found mine through expedia.com. What's up with these amazing last-minute deals? How many beds does your place have? Mine's got one queen bed. :(

I went direct to DaysInn where we stayed in 2005. They had a discount room for two nights. I saw quite a few Bimmers there in '05. It has a Queen bed for me and Mrs. Bcat. :p

Try Lompoc if you can't find lodging in SB.

For BF attendees who are sweating because you can't find a place to stay in SB, try Lompoc in N Santa Barbara county. Lompoc is only 45 minutes away from SB, it has a Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, Quality Inn and a few other motels. Lompoc is on Hwy 1 so its a short beautiful drive down to SB and rates are much cheaper than SB.

Who lives in 20 minutes away from Lompoc in Santa Maria, an hour drive to SB.
