Does anyone have any info on the 07' sport package? My car is scheduled for delivery in a few weeks and I really want to know what it looks like??? On the International BMW website Link (http://www.bmw.com/com/en/index_highend.html) If you go to the X3 page and then to "All the facts". Then go to "Equipment and Accessories". Then click "M Sports Package". They show a black X3. It has the new Rear lights, but other than that it look like an 06' w/ Sport Pkg.

Whats the deal with this? Does anyone know? Are they just trowing on the 06' aerokit for the 07' sports package? If so, I don't know how I feel about that...

Or maybe the LED rear lights were available in Europe last year?

Anyone have any answers???

We're all waiting for the same, those couple of pics you saw are all we have. This whole thing is very absurd to me, you can't even find 2006 X3s on the lots anymore.

That definitely isn't the 2006 aero kit in the photo. What it looks like is the 2006 M-Sport body kit, which was added to U.S. vehicles in '06 as a standard trim item.

What they have done for 2007 is change the standard package (which the U.S. didn't get last year) to make it look more like the X5 bumper (1/2 plastic, half painted) rather than being all plastic.

While it appears the standard X3 has received a face lift and the M-Sport body kit remains the same as '06, it also appears as if they may be deleting the M-Sport package as a standard item in the U.S. this year and going with the new face lift package as the standard. They added the M-Sport package into the selling price in '06 in the U.S. because American buyers preferred their SUV's to look like cars with painted bumpers. In the rest of the world, the full plastic bumpers remained the standard. They probably feel the 1/2 plastic 1/2 painted bumper, a la X5, will be more acceptable to the U.S. market than the all plastic bumpers.

That doesnt really answer my question? So what will the 07' X3 with the Sport package have? The standard 06' painted bumpers, or the facelifted 07' bumpers, but painted???

I find it very hard to believe that BMW would do a refresh on a car, but when you pay a lot for the sport package, they would just throw on the 06' bumpers...

Here is from the top of the page on the pricing info, which is finally out.

Sports package:
suspension upgrade
18" double spoke tires
Sport seats
M steering wheel
Aero package
Shadowline trim

I now that this doesn't say all of what you want, but I believe that the 2007 with SPRT pack will look pretty similar to the 2006 with sport. It will have some changes to the styling from the 2007, i.e., the LED taillights, etc.

I know all that... :dunno: I want to know about the bumpers.

What does "Aero package" Meen???

Is it the 06' painted bumpers. Or a hotter version of the new 07' bumpers???

I think you missed the point. The '06 'painted' bumpers ARE the M-Sport Package, and it looks like they will continue on as the '07 Sport Package (assuming the photo you referred to on the BMW website is an '07 model and not an '06). The face lift is for the standard trim. It looks like they are giving the U.S. two choices again 1) the face lift as the '07 standard trim level and 2) the M-Sport trim package (same as last year) as the '07 sport package. Last year they eliminated the standard trim package from the U.S. roster (plastic bumpers) when they stopped selling the 2.5 there, and they used the M-Sport package (painted) as the standard trim. This year it looks like it will go back to being an upgrade.

The 'Aero Package' is a completely different (third) option from the standard (face lifted) and M-Sport trim packages (assuming they carry it over and don't eliminate it in '07).

Here are some photos to clarify things.

Standard Trim (worldwide) 2004-2006
http://star.walagata.com/w/bpcalgary/x3_standard.jpg

M-Sport Option
Used as standard trim level in U.S.A. in 2006 and looks like it will return as the 'optional' Sport Package in '07.

2007 Standard Trim (face lifted).
It appears this will become the new worldwide standard and the M-Sport Trim Kit will revert to being an option again in the U.S.A.

Aero Trim
A second option to the M-Sport trim kit. Unknown if it is available in '07

WEll Maybe, Im just not happy to hear that the NEw Facelifted 07's with the sport package, (which by the way, says it includes the Areo package.) Will have the out dated 06' painted bumpers.

MAybe I am misunderstanding, But I think I will not take the car if it comes in and looks like an 06'... One of the main reasons that we decided to get the 07' instead of the 06' was because we loved the new look...

I guess well just have to wait and see since no one has any actual info...

I don't know anyone who is waiting for that reason personally. I'm waiting for the engine, nearly a full second off 0-60 is crazy. I like the new look, but I also love the 2006 look, and they aren't very different. I think a basic 2007 will look noticably different than the 2006, but with the sport package, it won't be such a big difference.

WEll, I said "One of the main reasons..." The other Main reason is the engine. Also the interior upgrade and some other smaller things. The engine is the biggest reason. I also like the 06' look, but I like the standard 07' bumpers much better...

Anyway. Ill just have to wait for some real info, unless my car gets here first. It should be in in 3-4 weeks...

But thanks for being so Nice, Guys!

That looks like the standard 2006 M-Sport package, so it appears they are now marketing the old M-Sport package (which was standard on '06 U.S.A. models) as the optional package for '07 (as I stated above) but calling it "Aero" instead of M-Sport. What we'll probably see, then, is the face lifted exterior as the new standard, and last years M-Sport trim kit as the '07 optional Aero trim. That will give buyers in the U.S. two choices again. I guess that also means they have discontinued last year's Aero Package, which was the most aggressive look of the three exterior trim levels by far.

If it is true that the original Aero Kit have been discontinued... it makes me happy to have my X3 become an "Limited Edition"

(but I doubt it'd be discontinued because people like me will be pissed off if I can't get replacement parts when I need; and pre-facelift owners might still want to get the Aero Kit at some point to refresh their X3).

Seriously.... on the external, the "Facelift" X3 is nothing more than another "body kit" in my opinion. I've not seen it in person yet, but it seems like the shape of the Grill and Headlights look exactly the same as before. I can't recall any Facelift BMW has done that did not change the Grill or Headlights :dunno:

I have a very strong feeling that the "Facelifted" Bumpers can be fitted onto the pre-facelifted X3, in the same way the Aero or M-Tech body kit?!

Yes, the pics Kevin posted from the BMW.de website are what U.S. models with the Sports Package will look like. Those 19-inch wheels with performance tires will be optional with the sports package. All 2007s will have the enlarged kidney grills.

Hmmmm.... did anybody else notice that the license plate on the black '07 Sports Package that Kevin posted is the same as one on the silver '06 with M-Sport package that I posted (the standard '06 U.S. model). In fact, with the exception of a slightly taller kidney grill and different wheels, the two images look almost identical. It's almost as if they did a quick photoshop of the '06 to use for '07.

BMW does a lot of photoshop in their brochures. I notice this a lot especially when its in the 3-series, comparing the lower and upper model. On the 2005 coupe brochure, they had two pics of the gauges. The 325ci one doesnt have chrome rings, the 330ci pic does. However, the OBC data and dash warning lights are the exact same.
