I've seen cam kits offered from conforti for the 328 using M3 cams and upgraded supporting equipment. Has anyone done anything with their cars in regards to cams? If so, did it affect reliability at all, and what kind of gains did you see?

If I were you I would call turner or understeer and ask them questions about the upgrade. If I had a 328 I would do the same.

I'll probably just end up getting some software and intake to start it off then go from there. Thanks.

Just remeber if you want to do a cam upgrade in the future there are upgrade kits such as an m3 cam kit with chip tuned specifically for that setup so maybe now would be the time to do it otherwise you will not get the max performance out of the cam(s).

i updraged mine with Schrick cams, and custom chip, only forfit is a lumpy Idle, but with the added benifit of higher revving, and more torque in mid range!

However remember when chgaing cam be prepaired to change valve springs, rockers and hydrolic lifters will probably need renewing, i found this out the hard way! And also u will need a chip to make it work proper!

How much were upgraded cams and where did you buy them? Also when you say you will need updated rockers, lifters, and springs im guessing this is due to the strain they take from the upgraded cam in which case it would cost over 1k to get everything working properly so is it worth it? What have you noticed for performance and do you have any idea how much of a hp gain you got?

the cam and chip i got from a friend who was doing a project on a 318, but instead decided to buy a E46 M3 engine, crazy guy:P
The cam on its own was actually ***163;460 plus the chip, which he custom made, but can be done apparently for around 200.
The uprated cam will need to have uprated valve springs due to the longer travel of the cam, which can cause clearence problems, and the reason for new rockers and hydraulic lifters is that its a matter of good pratice to replace them.

the HP gain with combination was quite good, it was ready 32 hp gain, this was in combination of intake, chip, cam. the mid range and gearing has really changed.
2nd gear now finishes at 57mph
3rd gear at 83mph,
and it has now topped, which tbh, is a huge improvement, in accelleration and top end!

Again if you got the money, do it, for me it came to close to 500, including power runs, and setting up.

I wish I had the money to do it but unfortunately I dont. Maybe sometime in the future.

So no one has a 2.8 with M3 cams and software?
