Just wondering what people run for oil in terms of weight and brand. I personally run Castrol gtx 10w 40 at the moment.

MOBIL 1 is the best. 5w30,10w30. I use 10W-30 in the summer/fall and go to 5W30 when it gets cold.

10W-30 seems waaaay light, especially in warmer climates. Per my manual, I run 20W-50 until the winter gets here. I run valvoline synthetic racing oil.

20w-50 is what I will be trying when spring and summer comes around again but until then I will be running 10w-40 so far so good.

Well remember there are some really small oil passages and too thick of an oil can flow too slow .

What would people suggest for my modded 328i?
I live in the UK and winter is coming so wanna get it right
I drive 7 miles each way to work so the car gets driven carefully through the lanes until warm then give it a bit of wellie when up to temp

Pirate, if it were me, and I should caveat this by saying follow people's advice at your own risk, I would use mobil one synthetic 10W-40. 10W-40 should be lite enough, and the synthetic will help with cold weather startup.

Go check out Amsoil if you ever get the chance. I put that stuff in everything, lawnmower included.
