Downloading new program

I'm having the ipod interface put in my 650, and the dealer says my car has been in programming since yesterday. In fact, they said on some of the programming it has taken as long as 48 hours. Has anyone else heard of this? I thought programming took a couple of hours max. (I had the cd changer, serius, hd fm--actually, every thing possible except comfort access, which I just missed availability on).

I thought 6-8 hrs was the max, unless they messed up and had to re-program multiple times.

Discussed ad naseum on this forum. Rare, rare indeed if ever done in a "couple" of hours.
It take hours just run tests on your current configuration, which must happen first. Then they must fix any errors (hardware) before doing anything. At a minimum, 25 individual devices that must accept code. Then after all that, run the upgrade with no faults (car must be placed so that it cannot be touched by human hand) and the service people cannot watch it at all times so if any fault occues when they come back and see an error they have to understand it, fix, or perform workaround and start all over. Couple of hours - ha I scoff at your couple of hours:p :rofl:
