I am picking up a 335i on Oct 12 and dropping it off the same day. Does anyone know a good drive to take for a few hours that would get me back to Munich in time? Also when is the latest I can get to Harms? I would like to get on the autobahn area without speed limits and possibly at the same time get some sightseeing. I am doing the express delivery and will be at the center as soon as it opens.

Thanx.

Many people have asked a similar question so you might want to try a search for more information. A quick suggestion list would be:
- South to Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Autobahn, castles, Alps, close to the Alpenstrasse for twisties driving - 3 hours round trip (with no stops or traffic)
- North to Regensburg: Autobahn, 2 hours round trip
- SE to Berchtesgadenerland: Autobahn and secondary roads, lots of scenery: 3-4 hours round trip
- SW to Lindau im Bodensee: Autobahn and secondary roads, lots of scenery in Lindau 4-5 hours round trip.
+ many other choices

I can't tell you when Harms closes but if you can arrange to take delivery and head straight over to Harms to complete all the shipping paperwork, you could have the rest of the day to drive and not be worried about getting back before they close.

Jay,
Given you have a short time frame. Here is what I would suggest to maximize your activities:

1) Pick-up your car first thing in th morning. Plan to BE THERE by 8:00 am so you can be the first one there. Have a quick breakfast and you name should be called.

2) Ask the Delivery guy to program in the drop-off center address. Sure, you can do this, but s/he can do it faster and you can watch and learn. Instead of you fumbling thru trial and error. It saves time, something you do not have!

3) Go straight from delivery center to the drop-off location, you want to do this because a) You can familiarize with where Harms is at while you have time, instead of trying to find their location 5 mins before they close. b) You will stop by there and he can start your paperwork (again, it saves time when you are dropping off later) and arrange for your transportation when you drop the car off.

4) Now, go have a blast, you can go anywhere you want, you will ALWAYS know where you are at with th disk I send you. You will always know how far you are from the drop-off center and how long it will take to get there based on your current driving pace;) Burn as much gas as you can while you are at it. Remenber that all cars are shipped w/ less than 1/4 tank of gas, so whatever you don't burn, it will be wasted:)

Have fun!!

Cheers,
