Hi all,

I'm home from Europe and the ED of my 330Ci. I've posted some pictures over on the showroom board -- here's a link if any of you want to go take a look: AlisaKay's Red/Gray 330Ci (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16578)

The ED was a blast -- even more fun than in 1999 since we *sort of* knew what we were doing. Pickup was handled very quickly. We got there at 8am on a Thursday and we were the only ones picking up at that time. Drop-off in Amsterdam near Schipol was very convenient. Be sure to call ahead, as we did, for their hours, as the hours listed in the guide were incorrect. The shipping agent fellow at the Amsterdam drop off said that the car should be trucked to the port either this past Friday or today. He said it will be loaded on a ship in Belgium -- I could have sworn he said Saarbrucken, but that's in Germany -- so I really don't know where it will ship from. I should have gotten him to write it down for me or show me on a map. I am certain he said Belgium, but that's about all I know for sure.

Our favorite drives were through the Ardennes regions of Luxembourg & Belgium. Beautiful small towns and picturesque scenery. Not too much rain, thankfully. We really enjoyed our visit to Bruges, Belgium -- it's now our favorite European city. We've not been to all that many, but give us time (and more BMW's!!). Husband is already talking about ED on a 540 in a few years when the lease is up on the Audi A6 he's driving now. (Assuming Bangle does not hit the 5-series with the ugly stick).

This was our first chance to drive a 330 with a stick (the dealers NEVER have sticks on their lots:rolleyes: ) and I thought this one was much better than the stick in my '99 323i. Or maybe it's just that extra torque!:D I know the stick in the 325 and the 330 are made by different manufacturers, but I can't remember which is which.

Anyway, I was thrilled with the car and can hardly wait for it to get here!

Your car will be shipped from Zeebrugge, Belgium. You will soon be able to track ships progress via

Sorry. there will not be a "540" in a few years. It'll probably be the "545" for you guys;)

aserov, thanks for the link and for the clarification on the port city. I don't know how I misunderstood Zeebrugge to be Saarbrucken -- I guess I'm a typical stupid American.;) I've been meaning to do a search and find the link for tracking the shipping process and you saved me the trouble. I'm glad to know I can track it just like a "regular" ordered car -- I wasn't sure I'd be able to track an ED car. Anyway, I just checked and my car is scheduled to be picked up in Zeebrugge on Dec 7 and be on the ship Aida, scheduled to arrive in NY on Dec 18. I'll probably go crazy waiting for it, as I'm sure all of the holidays coming up will slow it's journey to me!

beewang, I should have said that "husband is already talking about the equivalent of the 540 in a few years". Actually, he checked the prices of a 540 :eeps: , so now he's talking about the equivalent of a 530.

When I typed my VIN in the link, it said it couldn't find it in the system. I dropped off my car about the same time as Alisa so what gives? Is it because Alisa dropped it off in amsterdam and I in Nice? The guy in Nice said my car would be trucked to Paris first and then sent to Belgium. When can I start tracking my car? The wait is killing me! It is snowing out here and I wish I had my car to test out the AWD.

darchen, I think it is only because Amsterdam is closer to Belgium. It will be in a system in a couple of days (when it will be boooked with 2w (shippping company))

I just got back from my ED Friday night. My car's on the same boat. I'm thinking with the holidays I won't see the car until after the first of the year.

So, you're scheduled to pick up on 12/27! Congrats! My car is also on the Aida and after reading your post, I've put in a call to our sales guy. I'm surprised that they expect your car to be here so soon... I would think the same is true for mine.

Didn't you buy from Garlyn in Temple? He said it might arrive earlier but with X-mas who knows. I also got my letter from BMW NA yesterday.

Skybum,

Yes, I bought from GS in Temple also. Same sales guy (Jeff) too, if I recall correctly. Did he call you or did you contact him? I've left him a message but he hasn't called me back yet. I'm anxious to get this thing scheduled!

I called him. Let me clarify that its supposed to arrive the 27th. No idea what time so most likely I'll pick it up Saturday. Just have to figure out how to get there.

Doesn't look like we'll be getting our cars this weekend Alisa. I called BMWNA and they said my car was still sitting at the docks waiting for transport to the VPC.

Thanks, Skybum -- I was about to post the results of my call to BMWNA too when I saw your post. I just got off the phone with them and my car is still at the dock too. They said it is scheduled to be transported to South Carolina (I guess there is a VPC there?) on Dec 26. So, who knows when they'll get our cars to Texas.

I didn't even notice this thread had turned into a "wait" thread.

Glad to see someone else is bugging BMW about their orders. :p

Actually, I'm almost sorry I didn't call on Friday (I called on Thursday and again today). I guess my baby's birthdate was 12/19. :dunno: :D
