Is anyone else going to be picking up around that time? I still haven't decided on a hotel to stay at, any recommendations for a cheap place near the airport(I'm only staying for 2 nights) will be appreciated. Also, should I get the alarm installed, or at least buy it, while in Munich? Is there a cost savings? Since I will only be there 2 days, is there enough time to get it installed? BTW, the car is '03 330i Sport/Xe/Pre blk on blk, will post pictures. Thanks to all for their help.

When I was in Munich last month, I stayed at Holiday Inn Munchen Nord in Schwabing (on Leopoldstrasse). It's a very nice hotel, close to the Delivery Center and BMW Museum/Factory, and only 15 minutes walk to the U-bahn station.
If you make the reservation through their website (http://www.sixcontinentshotels.com/holiday-inn?_franchisee=MUCLS), choose the "Best Available" rate. I got 58 EUR/night for a non-smoking double room. The hotel also has plenty underground parking for 15 EUR/day but you can leave your car there all day while you explore Munich (do not drive into the city center).
Good luck and have a good time!

Agree w/ roots. A very nice place, except for that we've never made the 15 mins walk to U-Bahn Station. Instead, we walk for 2 mins and take the bus to the U-bahn station and save 13 mins.:p

Make your reservation early, you will save ALOT!!;)

I'd really recommend Hotel Uhland (http://www.hotel-uhland.de/uhlandpi.html) . We stayed there for ED this winter. It was recommended in another bimmerfester's European Delivery Post (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/derprofi/bmw/ed.htm#Uhland) .
The staff was great and the location is right down by the old city center. It's an easy walk to the U-bahn or the main trainstation, HBF.
I could see a couple of other ED folks were also staying there because of the tourist license plates.
Reservations were done all by e-mail and the rooms were very nice, but economical. Don't squander your time at some big franchise hotel.
You can also park off the street for free by the hotel (see below).
Have a great trip!

i stayed at the munich renaissance marriott. it is close to the delivery center (2 or 3 stops away on the u-bahn). i used priceline to get it for $55 US per night. choose munich city center north on priceline, and you will get either renaissance marriott or marriott hotels.

I just noticed my signature was off, I switched to ED after I had ordered a 330, basically used the savings to get myself auto wipers and lights, and of course the power lumar. I wish I werent such a sucker for these ridiculous options.

Just returned from Munich...stayed at Hotel Uhland. Good place to stay...only complaint was a little tough to find.
About alarm and other things to buy there...
Alarm is well worth it, after tax it was about 185 euro, and the install was easy as long as you have the tools (5mm 30mm torque wrench if i remember right.) Took about an hour.
Not sure if anything else is worth it...unless it is something you cannot buy in the states. Have fun and good luck!

I had planned to stay at Uhland, but they were asking $92 a night, with Priceline, the Marriot Hotel agreed to $60 a night. If anyone else in looking, giddyups instructions are all you need. Thanks everyone.

Giddyup or Buff_AGM or anyone who used Priceline to book their hotel. Is the Marriot considered a 3 star hotel? Priceline is asking me to make that selection and I'm not sure which to choose.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm doing an ED in March and have a free night certificate good at any Marriott. Anybody have any information to help me decide between Marriott Munich and the Marriott Renaissance?

I stayed at the Renaissance in November. One of my friends that came with me had a certificate for 3 free nights so we didn't have to pay for the room. I don't know how it happened but we got upgraded to suites. The rooms were very nice and the hotel had underground pay parking (I think it was 20 euros per day) and free breakfast buffet. The subway is less than a block away and very convenient to the city centre. Its less than 2 miles from the BMW delivery center. Hope this helps.

We stayed at both Marriotts last June. My comparison is as follows:
Munich Marriott: Newer Hotel, new fixtures, air conditioned, a better restaurant/Sports Bar and a better work out facility.
Renaissance: Older, no air conditioning, but a block closer to the Airporter and UBahn stop. Our first room was directly over the garage entrance and very noisy at night, we requested and received a new room which was very quiet overlooking the courtyard. The rooms were larger than the Munich Marriott.
We enjoyed both Hotels, if the rack rate and room type were the same I would stay at the Munich Marriott.
Lots to do in the immediate area, I have a document prepared by a former Muenchen College student and taxi driver covering some of the local restaurants, functions and activities. Email me at CascadeTelcom@msn.com if you want a copy.
