My car's bi-xenon headlights light up the portion of the road immediately in front of the car (i.e. within a 10-foot radius) much more brightly than they do the remainder of the coverage area. Is that a by-product of the bi-xenons? The overall light intensity of the headlights just doesn't seem as bright as I expected.

I found mine were aimed very low, thus not really gaining the benefit of bi-xenons. You can use the star-shaped knobs on top of the headlight housing to vertically adjust the lights.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO AIM TO HIGH, as these things are bright and can blind people. I'm much happier after moving them up a couple notches. The sharp cutoff and autoleveling allows you to aim them a little higher without blinding others, but don't overdue a good thing.

I did the same as Gavin did with my 2001 Xenon's. You'll notice a big improvement.
For some reason BMW delivers these cars with the Xenon's aimed too low.
They are very easy to adjust ! !!

I must have gotten lucky. I haven't adjusted my xenons because they seem just right. The cutoff is higher than in most of the other xenon equipped cars that I've driven in the past few years. The other car that I have the most seat time in is an S2000. When we go driving in some hilly areas, there are times that I feel blind. In my 325, I'm perfectly happy in the same places.
If you're going to raise the aiming point, after you get back on the road, I would suggest that you pay close attention to where the cutoff lies on cars ahead of you. If it looks like it's anywhere close to the bottom of the rear window of the car ahead, you've got them aimed too high.

I've tried the aiming solution, and they seem to be aimed well in that I do get some light shining everywhere. My initial question was that I see a really bright spot within a five or ten foot radius directly in front of the car, whereas the rest of the coverage is much more dim. Is that the way the bi-xenons' light pattern is supposed to look, or is the bright "spot" supposed to cover the entire coverage area? I guess from the hoopla about xenons I was expecting a little more out of them. Or maybe there's something wrong with mine??? :dunno:

Ok, so I'm an idiot.
There is actually another pair of vaguely star-shaped knobs that I was turning in an attempt to adjust the beam. Closer inspection revealed the real star-shaped knobs.
I have seen the light!
These xenons are awesome!!!

I did the same exact thing the first time I tried to adjust mine and ended up screwing off the rubber stopper for the hood :D :D
So don't feel bad, your not the only one :)
