Because Bimmerfest has been pushed back on the calendar a couple of weeks, now in May, we will be battling the general tourist industry for the coveted local accomodations. Please take note: be prudent and book your hotel reservation now. Those who wait until late Winter or Spring will not be happy with the outcome...

Damn Jon, you beat me to it. ;)

He's right, after talking to the main man at the Ramada, their hotel and every other hotel expect a large Cinco De Mayo crowd that wekend.
Which means hotels will fill up sooner and rates will be higher, so for you procrastinator's, get your reservation's now.

Keith, you really need to spend more time here. That name was coined by Jon about 6 weeks ago... (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1867851&postcount=11)

Details of what happens there can be found here either in this section or by using the "Search" since there are so many different threads from general talk to caravan's going to and from to picture threads. Not to be a dick but seriously, we'd be typing all week long going over different events, pictures and all that. Plus you can order DVD's to see what it's like for the day.

Check your regional section for local meets but as far as I know the actual fest is a left coast thing although I do remember Jon mentioning maybe going to Vegas one of these years since it's getting to be so large. I think last year there was like 4000 people or something like that estimated to have shown up but I could be way off on that. I remember seeing a crapload of folks there though.

There are some folks that drive from the right to the left coast for the fest too. I think a cross country caravan would be pretty cool to be a part of.

Same here...except i'm going to SBCC.

Anyways, it's gonna be hard to find a cheap hotel, but I would try to go to the Ramada...it's always seemed to be the best one to be at. Otherwise, I would try to get something on upper State St. (2000-3000 block). Those motels are typically cheaper because they're farther from downtown/the beach. Also, they're closer to the fest

I'm flying in for the event from Minnesota. Can someone please send me a PM for a hotel close by? I found hotels using Orbitz but I am not familiar with the area and have no idea where to stay.

Close by the airport you're flying into, or close by the event?
If it's the airport, which one?
If it's for the event, then anywhere in Santa Barbara is close, like no more than 2 miles.

Nice 'vert by the way.

Keith - thanks for the response. I'm flying in to LAX and essentially schedule a business trip around the event, versus going on the trip in April. But yeah, I didn't know if I should just stay at the airport since I'll be flying out Sunday 5/6. I've never been so I don't know what would be best. I'd have a rental car - assuming I could park a non-BMW? Anyway, just trying to get some help on how to go about doing this given I don't know the area at all.

Any help appreciated.

I don't see the advantage of getting a room near SB. I prefer Thousand Oaks (60 miles south on US 101), Westlake Plaza, and have a very nice drive to SB bimmefest morning.

We have a nice drive the day before. And the day after. Don't really need one the day of, too.

For BF attendees who are starting to panic because you can't find a place to stay in SB without taking out a bank loan to pay SB lodging rates. May I suggest that you try Lompoc in North Santa Barbara county. Lompoc is only 45 minutes away from SB, it has a Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, Quality Inn and a few other motels. Lompoc is on Hwy 1 so its a short beautiful drive down to SB and rates are much cheaper than SB. Another suggestion is Beullton, you can stay in the inn made famous in the movie Sideways.

Who lives in 20 minutes away from Lompoc in Santa Maria, an hour drive to SB.
