Had the same problem in a Z3 roadster.

They are very small, and probably tucked up behind the Amplifier in the right side of the trunk. I had to dig for a few seconds to find it.

Remember there are two conntectors. One for "data" and one for power. The power connector is tiny.

Thanks Cliff, I have the same instructions, but unfortunately have been unable to locate my prewired cables. I looked in the cubby hole and nothing was inside. Any ideas.

Nope, but I'll hopefully be doing the install myself in a couple of weeks - I just need the car. I would keep poking around in there, the cables can sometimes be tucked away fairly deep. That was the case with the phone prewiring in my 3er.

I had a hard time finding mine... I had to remove the door for the the center console (first time is always the hardest..)... Then remove the console... remove both rear speaker grills and remove the screws holding both speaker units (not the speakers themselves).. (this will enable you to remove the center plastic storage box... my cables were taped to the floor right under the storage box... The picture in the instructions lead you to believe they are taped to the back of the area... but mine were taped right under the storage box.. Without removing the box, I couldn't see them... What I did was to take those cables and route them right out the back to the trunk (there is already a 2"x4" opening)... I then mounted by cd player in the trunk (mainly because I didn't want to take up the storage area between the seats... just a personal choice)... Hope yours are where mine are...

Is that what you think all that work to get to cables? Any other ideas and pictures, this is on a 2006 Z4 3.0si. No nav or cd changer. Please help.

At this point, you should go to your dealer and have them locate the cables for you.

You need to go through the trunk like the link to the Z4Um showed above. The guys going through the other way have an M or a coupe. For a 2006 si roadster here is what you should do. In the link, the picture of the cable area is not exactly the same as the 2006 si, but its pretty close. The cable colors are spot on. Sometimes the connections are wrapped with black tape. To the left of the amp is a hole where the connections are stored. Feel around for some cables that may or may not end in some black tape or an unconnected plastic connector. You may have to remove the amp to get to the hole better, but its not a big deal. Remove the amp and poke around behind the fiewall (in the hole to the left of the AMP). Look closely at the color on the cable in the link above to know what color cables you should pull on.

Good luck - Keep working and you will find it

my amp is on the right and I think bmw assist. I saw a cable hole going to the right of the firewall. if indeed that is it, I can feel it in the firewall which is the back of the center console. Please advise. Pics would be great, I GREATLY appreciate your help.

Pull up the Z4um pictue - look at the two plastic connections on the left side of the picture. Look at the wires used for the connections. The cable you are looking for is on the left of the amp, not the right. Look in the hole to the left of the amp for a coil of white, brown, black and red wires. The wires may actually be taped down to the frame with black electrician's tape.

Ron has the BMW-recommended way, but there is an easier way from the trunk:

While this has the interior removed, this will give a good indication of the cable location.
