I have a 03 x5 4.4i and there seems to be a problem with my suspension.. When the car is running but not moving sometimes the onboard computer flashes this message "SELF LEVELING SUSPENSION INACTIVE" i turn the car off and turn it back on and it dissapears.. this happens once every 2 weeks or something.. anyone know why?

The Self Levelling Suspension is one of the last things the computer checks when you turn on the car. It is very sensitive to voltage. This is according to my dealership after the first error. The message has happened three times to me. The first and third time, I shut off the car and turned it back on and the error went away. The second time was a little more difficult. It was right after I hardwired my Valentine1. I had to disconnect the battery and it went away.

I purchased an 03 X5 4.4 with sports package last week. I enjoy driving it; the SELFLEVEL SUSP.INACT dispaly came on last night. I realized that this is an automatic funtion on this vehicle that helps with the different loads it will carry. I notice that the hight of the vehicle on the drivers side look a bit lower than the passenger side. I measured from the ground up to the bottom of the wheel frame and it was off close to an inch on dvr side compared to pass. side. Is this the same with other models? aren't both sides supposed to have an even hight on the suspension?
PLEASE educate me.
