Been shopping struts for the vert and want to stay as close to the factory ride as possible. But I’m also on major budget. The cheapest I’ve found are Bilstein Tourings for $85 each, KYBs at $95 each and Sachs BMW046046 for $137 each at www.autopartsbrothers.com And the supposed factory equivalent Boge 3131-1091773 (B31) are $105 each at www.germanimportedautoparts.com.

My questions are:
1. Can’t find much info on the KYBs. How does the ride compare to any of these others?
2. Is there a difference between these Sachs and Boge? They are both supposedly OEM, but the Boge carries a BMW like PN. I know they are the same company, but are these the same product?
3. In the real world, am I likely to notice the difference between the OEM and the Bilstein Touring Class?

Any shared experience helps, Thanks!

I can't give much comparison only using the tourings. From what I know sachs got some that are basically bilstein tourings.

bav auto might still have fronts on clearance, and bimmerzone has rears for cheap.

RealOem (if I guessed correctly on your car info - lists the original struts as being Bilstiens with a BMW part numbers of 31312227485 and 31312227486 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BE53&mospid=47480&btnr=31_0243&hg=31&fg=10
For more information on the Sachs & Boge Struts, you can enter your car info at http://webcat.zf-trading.com/

Bilsteins have a life time warranty which none of the others do. They ride about 25% stiffer then the stock Boges do.
I guess it depends on how long you decide to keep the car but the warranty helps.
Most Boge or Sachs are shot at around 50K miles but the Bilsteins, unless you blow them out by doing an incorrect application, seem to last forever.

For me I think Bilstein is the best. I am using it right now and I can really feel a huge different between the stock. Is a little expensive compare to others but it worths.
