I have a 2000 540. I had installed a subwoofer three years ago and it has been doing fine. Last week, I had to remove the Sub to give more room for suitcases. After the trip, I reinstalled the Sub and notice that the Preamp was lit even when the radio or the ignition was turned off. I probe the remote wire that triggers the power to the preamp and Subwoofer and discovered that it was live. This was causing the amp to power up. I drove it this was to a party and needless to say, my battery was dead when I was ready to go home. It was great party nonetheless.
So, does any one know why this remote wire would suddenly remain ‘on”.
I have since remove the preamp and subwoofer and all its wirings and almost back to its original status. However that remote wire is still hot. I pull the fuse to disable the radio.
