Sorry about these since apparently they are pretty old. Just found out from Jason over at E90Post that these were posted several months ago on that board.

This car will be hot once it is unveilded with 19 or 20 inch wheels and without any of the tape to hide its identity. But, it just doesn't have the look of the current M3...BMW hit the bulls eye on that car.

Those aren't the latest M3 pics. You're almost 5 months late. Those pics were posted on June 2, 2006.

Notice those pics are taken in Santa Barbara. I've seen that car driving around no less than 5 times myself. Too bad all that I had with me was my lousy phone cam.

Yep. I acknowledged this in my second post above. Left Lane News seems to post a lot of stuff late or perhaps they are recycling old material to give the impression that their site is fresh.

LeftLane doesn't recirculate stories as new information. They even put the date in the URLs so people don't get confused. Check the URL you posted and you will clearly see 2006/06/02. Don't blame LeftLane for your mistake.

Dating published material is certainly better than not dating it but recirculating old material is still confusing and runs counter to the publication's mission. I think most of us go to LLN to find breaking news that will take much longer to appear in R&T, Car and Driver, Autoweek and other publications. Websites recirculate old inventory to convey freshness, to provide infill on slow news days, and to mitigate the cost of content creation. The date covers their ass. I suspect most people are like me and don't look at the dates (won't make this mistake again.) Imagine CNN, NYTimes, or Car and Driver employing this practice--republishing stories (including the original dates) 5 months after first running them.

How did the V8 sound Jon? Could you tell if it was a manual or SMG?

I went through a weeks worth of Left Lane posts and couldn't find where they republished this M3 story. You claim to have found this story yesterday. Perhaps you can show us where Left Lane is reposting old information? :dunno: http://www.leftlanenews.com/page/1/ and part of http://www.leftlanenews.com/page/2/ comprise this weeks posts for Left Lane News. I don't see the M3 story or any other story republished.
You really shouldn't bad mouth a great site like Left Lane unless you have proof of this tactic.

The pages you link to indicate the following: "Below are just a few highlights from the past week's coverage:" so their weekly compendium is not comprehensive. Incidentally, when I followed your links to LLN I didn't find any dates on any of their items (even when I opened up individual items. ) Nor did I find dates on my own. In any case, we just have different opinions about LLN. That's fine. No one else seems to be interested in this thread so I'm onto greener pastures.

Always keep a camera in the car. :D
Cayman S = very pretty lines, lack the hp in today's power war. Priced OK without the options
E90 335i = the tail light distroyed the look of the car, twin turbo 300 hp is nice.
E92 335i = nice lines but do I want a twin turbo street car, maybe by default.
E92 M3 = waiting for this car to show up. Just renewed my BMWCCA for Nov 2007 ED delivery?

I love the much more aggressive, wider fender flares. The quad exhausts look great, too. I can't wait to see it in production form with all the trimmings that will hopefully make it unmistakably and M3 (such as the lower front fascia and side grilles on the E46).

haha a slower pontiac? :D i dunno if i would go as far as saying it looks like a pontiac but im still not totally convinced on the E92's looks. and i'm probably never going to be convinced that an M3 should have a V8, but hey thats just me :dunno:
