I have placed the order for a 530i on 10/21 (last saturday).
Production should be completed by 11/03.....and I'll be picking it up on 11/24. :thumbup:

I just placed an order today myself and I'm shooting for a December 15 delivery.

Nope, not even close.

My last car was ordered on 13 July 2006, built on 17 July and picked up on 31 July. Can you top that?

Considering alex_msu is probably a mere mortal without your "insider" connections :p I think his turnaround time is quite impressive.

I really didn't have to pull any strings for mine. My dealer asked the E.D. dept. if they had a slot and they did. They have significantly shortened the interval required for the entire process so as to be able to accomodate short term requests.

If it's the same dealer I went to then I should be okay for a December 15 delivery then huh? ;)

Nice to know. Cuts down on part of the handwringing over the wait.

Can you special order the options you want or do you have to take a model with preplanned build specs? Do you think it will get even shorter with the new BMW Welt?

It was completely my order - not from the pool or anything like that.

With BMW Welt, nothing will change at the beginning except for the delivery venue at this point although they may build certain efficiencies into the overall process once they get going.

I was able to change the date to 11/17!
