Help! I want to buy rims for my 01 330!

I have a 01 330i e46 sedan w sport package. It comes with the 17" m wheels on it 245-45-17. There is a local guy selling a sweet set of 18" wheels that are 245-40-18 that were on a 1995 840il. My question is would they fit my ride. It think the pattern is the same but im not sure about the offset. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I can't say for sure, but I don't think they'd fit. The 8 Series was based off the 7 Series. The 7 Series shares its offsets with the 5 Series (20ish IIRC). The 3 Series has a different offset (40ish) than the 5 and 7 Series. That's a roundabout way of saying I don't think so...

No 330i cars come with 245/45R17... it would be either 225/45R17 all around or 225/45R17 front and 245/40R17 rear. I doubt wheels with an 8 series fitment (very low offset) have any chance of fitting the 01 330i, especially with the 245/40R18 tires.
