I'm having a hard time deciding between either a '03 M3 or an 05 Audi S4. Does anyone have any insight or advice in terms of reliabilty, maintenance and fun factor?

M3. Now go to the Audi forums they will say S4. Who's decision should you trust? Your own.

Not many Audi takers here. There are the Acuras of VW. Nice cars though.

Agreed w/ BMW335...I have 2004 M3 Dinan and friend has S4 (B6 I think) and an S6 (and previous S4s) and we argue constantly about this. I prefer the styling and performance of the BMW, don't need a sedan (i.e. no kids) or AWD (have extra cars for winter/wet roads) while my friend puts a premium on the AWD, interior, and sedan (b/c he has kids). Go drive both and decide as a lot I think is personal preference and what you put a premium on...can't necessarily say you can go wrong but I have 3 BMWs and no Audis so you know where I'm coming from...

I have driven M3 several times and owned a 2004 S4 (same as 2005, the 4.2 V8). My opinions:

I live in MN and it was my sole car at the time. I chose S4 for the quattro.
S4 sounds better, and pulls GREAT at 75-95 MPH. Unbelieveable, really.
S4 has more room, back seat and trunk. Also, the brakes are AWESOME.
S4 has stealth, it is not as noticeable (good and bad!)

M3 tosses better. It accelerates from 0-60 better, and 30-60 better.
M3 is better on the corners, much easier to break away and have fun.
M3 gets noticed more. Also good and bad.

My 0.02 worth.
