View Full Version : Mirror Tilt Down Died

I rarely use the reverse right mirror tilt down feature, as I find the mirror tilts way too low to be effective. I noticed that the mirror no longer tilts when the transmission is in reverse as it should. I have tried moving the right/left mirror selector switch back and forth several times, but the right mirror does not move. Since I really don't use this, I can't see making a trip to the dealer. Still I find it annoying that it doesn't work. Anyone see this happen before? Is it an easy fix?

Not sure if this helps, but the same thing happened to mine. After a week or so, it started working again. Don't know if I did anything different by playing with the buttons.

this happened to me once when i got an alarm put in... they had to unplug all the sensors inthe brain of the computer which took off that feature.... the guys fixed it for me and the way they did it, if im not mistaken, goes like this... with your key in the ignition but not turned on (car not turned on), move the mirror switch to the right to take control of the right mirror... then move it all the way to the botoom left till u see the mirror click...then movve straight up till it clicks then straight across to the right till it clicks then straight down till it clicks... do this as a clockwise motion... after the final click just move it to the middle to adjust the mirror to how you want it... turn the switch back to the left and then back to the way its suppsoe to be for the tilt feature to work...shut car off and turn car on put in reverse and it should work.... that is the way to reset the mirror.... oh by the way if goin bottom left first doesnt work, try go top right first and repeat the same process in a clockwise motion.... hope this works... it did for me

Back at the beginning of our ownership in late '04, it intermittently also stopped working. Then it kinda fixed itself. But at the next service, they seemed to find the problem and ordered a new mirror under warranty without us asking.

Thanks alot! Your fix worked. I actually did it with the car running, but it still did the trick.

Great that your information helped to get the mirror to work again. If you take the mirror and move it around by hand with the car in the off position then turn the car on it will also make the mirror work in the reverse position.

I guess you didn't understand the post. I didn't say to move it by hand every time you want the mirror to tilt down.
