Hi guys,
I pick up my M6 convertible tomorrow or Tuesday, and I am trying to find out what, if any performance upgrades are worth checking into. I had this crazy idea that it would be cool to supercharge it, but then found out (here on the forum) that there isn't a supercharger available for the M6.
This is my first "real" BMW (from 1997-2000 I ‘shared’ a Z-3 for a few years with my partner) and I am not too familiar with companies that do mods for this car. I did decide to take off the OEM 19" wheels and put on 20's (they are waiting patiently at the dealership for me to sign the papers so they can switch the rims) which have enough room for the Brembos that will be going on soon, but I was thinking about little things... like Chip upgrades, exhaust, suspension etc.
Some people tell me that if I go with DINAN aftermarket stuff, and have it done at the dealership, it will not mess with my warrantee…is this true?
Thanks for any input,
T Bones M

Hey, congrats.
I have the Dinan 3.19 LSD in my M6. I was playing around with a stock M6 from my dealership. On the highway, even in second gear, I was pulling away from the stock M6.
Speedometer doesn't seem affected. Can't tell about fuel economy, it is so crappy anyway.
Just check with your dealer for warranty. You have to send the core to Dinan, I believe, so if the dealership is friendly, I am sure they will pick up any warranty issue.

Was it a whole pumpkin(rear end final drive assembly) or was it just the diff itself with the ring and pinion already built into it? How much was the LSD and how much did you pay on labor, if you dont mind me asking.

Has anyone heard about some new engine that Dinan is making for the M5/M6 that will put out about 650 BHP? I am very interested in this, but wonder what that will do to my warantee.

Hmm. I wish!
It was actually $130k, but that was with the ghastly LA county taxes and our offensive DMV fees!
