HD Radio kit from DICE, anyone getting it?

I'm curious what the interface is going to look like, and how it's going to work with ipod integration. How will you change stations, etc?

I know you need the $199 kit + cable for iPod, but I really don't know anyone who has used HD radio, so I don't know if it's any good.

I ordered it and hopefully will be getting it this week although I won't be around to install it until next week. I got it because I figured for the few extra dollars above the normal iPod kit it was worth getting HD Radio (I was originally going to get Sirius). If I don't like it, hey I don't have any monthly fees and I can still hook Sirius up through it so no loss.

I don't know anyone with HD radio either, which is actually one of the things that enticed me to get it... afterall don't we all love to be the first to have something?

We'll have pictures shortly. We're expecting to ship this Monday.

All HD stations will be changed via the steering wheel like your current FM radio. You will have presets and the ability to switch to HD AM also.

This just moved up to a birthday present as opposed to a Christmas present for my wife now, as her birthday is the 12th :) Looks like the day spa has been relegated to Christmas duties now!

- Will it fit in the usual place where the DICE goes, (i.e., the center glove box)?
- You said it ships with an antenna, is that required? I thought it connects to the stock sharkfin antenna. Is it easy to wire the car's antenna to the HD radio kit? Of course, I would prefer a clean install rather than introduce another antenna that you stick somewhere.
- For existing DICE customers going for the upgrade kit, do you need to take out the old one, or should both be installed? If its the former, we might see a lot here selling their old DICEs as a bargain.

Fully compatible with the MY07 X3, as well as prior models.

The HD DICE module is about 9x3x3, it is a bit larger than the standard DICE module. We recommend placing the device underneath the seat or behind the dash, depending on where you want the iPod to reside.

The HD DICE comes with an HD micro antenna (approx 1x1) which is glass mounted.

We offer an upgrade path, but you would probably be better ordering a complete kit and taking advantage of the mail in rebate. The modules can be swapped and you can sell the standard DICE kit to recoup some of the cost back.

I would just like to get this in my hands already... There have been quite a few delays on this and we never find out until, well, after the point it was supposed to be sent out. No offense or anything, but continuously delaying the shipment like this and promising "it's going out this day" or "It's being shipped tomorrow" is starting to get a bit old. I paid for this almost a month ago (and I thought you weren't supposed to charge a CC until the item actually shipped?). I would just like to get a realistic ship date instead of pushing it back one week at a time. I'd rather you tell me it's going out January 2008 if that's when it is really going out, because then I would just cancel this order and get the regular iPod kit.

Yeah, I received notice of shipping yesterday, and a tracking number, but it still is not valid this morning. They sometimes take a bit to get into the system, but usually not overnight. Sorry, but I am skeptical that they are on the way (yet again). Although, this is the first time I have received a shipping notice and a tracking number, but I understand that others have seen this information in the past.

brh, well I received my tracking number on December 6 (6 days ago) and still nothing. So I wouldn't be holding my breath if I were you if they just sent you a tracking number yesterday.

On another note... Tom if this does not ship out today I'd like to change my order to just the regular Dice iPod integration kit. Can you arrange that for me? I figure this way I'll get my iPod working in my car soon and I'm much more interested in that than the HD radio. Also, I hope that I can still keep the free shipping on the regular DiCE kit since you have kept me waiting so long for this item. I don't want to step on any toes or anything, as it's not really my place to respond, but hopefully I have my facts straight. I talked to I believe it was Steve last night, as I had called and emailed them yesterday, and he said that mine went out late yesterday. The original tracking numbers are no good, and I even got a second one that is no good. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you guys probably have new tracking numbers, but they didn't enter the email addresses in on them for tracking notification (like me). When Steve called me, he said Tom would be back tomorrow, meaning today. I don't know if he had something come up or what, but my guess is he did.

Again, this could all be wrong, but I figured you'd rather hear my speculation than nothing. Sure, I would have rather had no delays, or just one realistic delay, but it is a new product so I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I guess I've ordered so many things in the past and had zero communication that to me, this has not been that bad considering the difficulties they faced in getting the product.

I would rather have the delays and a solid product, than to have it ship a month ago and have bugs and issues, so I hope that all of the details have been worked out!

I suppose that this is all true. But just haven't heard much from anyone and in the past when I have ordered new products, I typically get some communication. Especially when someone from the company says somewhere that they will be notifying customers on this day or that (as was the case here). Frankly I am just interested in getting my iPod hooked up and will get sat radio instead unless I can get a real ship date.

The lin sent to me yesterday to check my order status on the EAS website says "shipped", I cannot imagine that they would say shipped if it was still sitting in house. She wanted iPod integration, but didn't even know about the HD kit coming out. Just yesterday on the radio there was an advertisement for HD radio and she said "What's that? it sounds cool". Score!
