I recently purchased a 530i. Didn't think about adding Sirius radio until later on. Went to the dealer and they told me it would cost $850 to install. I do not want to add an ugly add on receiver but can't imagine paying $850 for satellite radio (even with one year free service). Is there another way to install sirius that is integrated into the system? Help!I can't help but think there is a less expensive way.

Check with crevier, circlebmw or pacific, might be able to install it yourself and save a bunch of money, I know its much cheaper on an E46 to DIY

I did this last year on my wife's car for Christmas:
On our '01 530i I needed a new CD Player/Radio $300 on eBay (sold old one on eBay for $150), search the A/V forum to see if your car requires this. The rest of the parts from Crevier:
84-11-0-141-975 E39 SIRIUS KIT 51.00
84-11-0-150-526 SIRIUS CD EXT. C 12.84
84-11-0-399-301 LP SIRIUS ANT KI 51.00
65-12-0-398-140 SIRIUS RECEIVER 233.75
65-12-8-360-754 CABLE CD 1 0 39.53 (needed since I have DSP and didn't have 6 Pin CD changer plug in trunk)
61-12-6-913-954 CABLE 1 1 15.05
Shipping: 13.00
Total cost: 566.17
DIY install was very simple with exception of routing cable from trunk to dash total project time about 2 hours.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not very handy so it sounds like at $566 plus the dealers label it will still be a signifcant cash outlay. I guess I was just shocked that it could cost so much to add Sirius to a vehicle. If it had been $300-$500 I would do it, but for $800 - $900 it just doesn't make any sense.
