2006 530xi rattle [Archive] - Bimmerfest

Hello-
I have a 2006 530xi with 14000 miles.I love the car but this summer the steering column started to rattle over the slightest road imperfections.The dealer can duplicate the rattle but cannot find the cause.Now I am waiting three weeks for a new steering column from Germany.They hope this solves the problem.I am not so sure.Has anyone else had a similar problem with their BMW?

Rattles drive me crazy too. I'm wondering if you had any work done to the steering column or dash.

I had no rattles until I had the steering sensor replaced under the recall. As soon as I had the repair done the rattle showed up. Only occurs over rough pavement, so it is not too disturbing at this point. I will get it checked out soon though. One of the reasons I HATE having any work done on the dash area of a car. The dealers never seem to be able to put things back together correctly :mad:
