Thats a definite M3 sedan. M5 wheels are 19's, not 18's. The shifter is a concept design that looks to be SMG or similar.

It's a mule to test the drivetrain and suspension/brake set up only. Styling and appointments will come later.

As for exhaust it is hidden behind the rear cowling.

I saw the same shifter on the new X5 when I was watching the review.
They said it was the new steptronic transmission.
