i was wondering if you change the ecu an a 95 525i do you have to take it to the dealership to program it and i was wondering whats a good way to test for spark thank you

No need to go to the dealer.
A spark tester between the coil boot and the plug will let you know if you are getting spark. The coil on plug setup makes testing a bit of a pain. You can also try cranking for a little bit and then checking the plugs. If the plugs are wet with gas you are not getting spark. If the car runs you can run the car from cold and keep an eye on the exhaust temp at each port(IR or wet towel). If one stays low for a while it is not igniting properly.

yeahi did that and put a new ecu in it and i still dont get spark im taking it to the dealer on thursday

Crank position sensor? It does not set off a code.
