1983 320i wont start...

she wont start today. had not a single problem with it since i bought it a year ago.

i am not the most savvy with it yet, so any suggestions will help.

when i turn the key it doesnt want to turn over. it sounds as if it is struggling for a second and then just stops. nothing.

First thought is battery. Not quite dead but pretty low.

you are correct. i didnt think it was since everything electrical was working and i didnt do anything to make it die overnight.
but i didnt have the resources to jump it yesterday, so i did that today. it worked. but it didnt hold a charge, so i went and picked up a new battery.
to make the day better, i found a 20 dollar bill in the parking lot of the auto parts store!

I guess I've had more dead batteries than you so I am accustomed to the symptoms
