I'm convinced that the reason my car idles bad in cold weather is the coolant sensor it makes sense because the coolant temp sensor tells the engine the fuel/air mixture before the engine gets warm and the o2 sensor kicks in right?? the bad idle is only when I start the car cold and the temp outside is below 40 farenhight can someone describe or better yet tell/show me where the Coolant temp sensor is located? I have looked and I cant seem to find it I've been following the wires and still no luck my car is a 95 325i, any input on this would be very much so appreciated  thanks guys hope to get this fixed soon :D I just found out that the 3 on the shifter is sport mode and I like it  I'd like to fix this asap :)

There are two sensors, one for the instrument cluster and one for the DME. If your gage reads correctly then I would suggest this. Swap the two connects around first before blowing money on the sensor. This will tell you two things, first if the sensor is toast to the DME your gage will read off what it really is. If the car runs well cold then you confirmed it is the sensor. This is a common thing to do to verify the problem.
Location of the two sensors can be found looking ar realoem.com and they are under the intake manifold between the first and second intake pipe looking from the front of the engine. You can usually reach right under the intake manifold and see and feel the two sensors that have a connector that requires pushing the wire lock in to pull the sensor connector off. Just look around the car for this type of sensor as you will then be able to pull the sensor connector off of the one sensor and swap it over. The part numbers are different but the information given is not that much different so doing this is the easiest way to verify before blowing some money on the sensor and messing with replacing it.
