Hello, has anyone had a chance to have someone look at a way to make the Navigation screen work with the Rear Entertainment so that they both play DVD'S? It doesn't seem like that should be impossible, if the rear entertainment can view the navigation screen, then the navigation screen should show the dvd's...right?
Thank you
Heidi

Only the rear screen will display DVDs. You can thank the lawyers for that...

I don't think is possible in its native form, but there might be a way using aftermarket devices like navtv and some ingenuity

very much possible. you need a TV retrofit kit that BMW sells which will let your iDrive display over-the-air TV channels. after that is in place, simply hookup DVD changer into the TV tuner and on the iDrive you will have both TV and DVD under Entertainment section.

Looks like that kit runs about 1400? Now, just finding someone to install it

its an easy DIY if you get installation instructions (EBA). you'll just need to find somebody to do retrofit encoding of the software (indie bmw tech can do it). i am planning on doing this in a few weeks and will take install pics.

You do not need the TV Tuner Kit simply buy a Module Unit like :

" NAV-INBMW2"

http://www.nav.tv/UserFiles/Image/products/154_nav-inbmw2.jpg

Video input for integration of aftermarket products (e.g. DVD player) with the factory navigation System.
***9632; Two Video Inputs
***9632; Auto Video Switching
***9632; PAL & NTSC Compatible
Analogue & Digital Compatible 7 Series (E65)

This allows you to take the output of the rear dvd ( basically hack the rear av cable to get a source) and input it into the front screen with out needing a bmw tv tuner Kit :bigpimp:

I thought the OEM rear Entertainment went through the main audio system in the front ?

Oh well ...

I would use an Aux input like that used by BMW for Ipods, the Dension gateway 400 is better because it retains the cd changer http://www.dension.com/icelinkgateway400.php

so you can have Ipod connectivity and DVD on the front screen :D

cheaper options can mean FM modulators but they can lead to

there is no Aux input on the 7er series until 2007 model year.
