Well, I never had a 6 series before I got my M6 convertible, but this car is amazing! I don't think you will be unhappy with it.
As far as the SMG goes, I was a bit concerned after all the crap I was hearing about it, but now that I have it, I LOVE it! It took me MAYBE 2 days to get used to it, and to learn how to make it shift smooth if I want smooth, or to shift crazy fast if I want that. The media that writes reviews on this stuff should give themselves a few days with it before they go talkin’ sh!t about it! Sure, in “auto” mode it is not going to shift as smoothly as say a 750iL, but that is not what the M6 is all about!
live in the LA area where we have LOTS of traffic...I NEVER want to see a clutch again!

Hi.
I have my M6 two days now. I had a 6 speed manual in my M3 prior to this car. I am getting a little better with the SMG. Do you have any tips on smooth shifting where I don't get that hesitation? I am trying to figure out at what point to I let up on the gas once I shift.
Thanks,
Ken

Good luck in only paying $30,000.00 extra--My dealership wanted $45,000.00 extra (list on my 650i was $90,000.00). I can't help you with your first question.

Regardless of tranny I would wait for 08. New iDrive, interior updates, exterior changes (slight), iPOD/USB option, etc. :)

Not this question again... There is a logical answer to this my friend... Pratice, practice, pratice. If you want the answers, they are in you. Just drive the car and while your doing that learn (adapt) to the tranny so that you can better understand its shift points.
It's really not that hard or rocket science.

Before going in to all the nit picking details, let's understand why you are considering the M6?
If you have a 6 Series already, what are you looking for that would peek your fancy for a M6? It's the POWER and prestige of owning a M6, right? Do tell...

Answer whether you spend the extra buck for the V10, M badge, special parts unique to M and the wow factor you get when people see the M6.
I suspect you enjoy your current 6 Series and if this is the case, you cannot go wrong with a M6. I say it's worth buying for MSRP if you can get it at that price; less is better but good luck finding a dealer willing to part with a M6 @ less than MSRP.
If you do not like your current 6 Series, you will not enjoy the M6 because it is a 6 Series on STERIODS (The good kind, LOL). I love the M6 and would not trade it for anything, even a Aston Martin but that's a different story; new post.
So now you have my vote, get the M6 in it naturally aspirated configuration: SMG and with all the trimmings! Why settle for second best and get a 6-Speed tranny. The NEW ///M was meant (Born) to be SMG!
Good luck with your purchase and do chime back in to let us know how it went and what you ended up with.

That sounds about right, a good +3.5K off the sticker. Who are you dealing with, Park Ave? Prestige? JMK? How long has it been sitting? I suspect if they are droping off $3990 it has been sitting for a few weeks to a month.
Curious, did you get the money factor from the dealer?

You are correct, the dealers in NJ are so stuck on the big sell it's hard to get them to budge but you canif you work on them hard enough. I bought my 750Li last year from them, good dealership so far... I have never used their service though.
Make sure you get the MF details so you are sure to get the best deal overall. Nice to give ya +3.5K off the sticker but they stuck it to you on the MF which increased your monthly to 1500 in a 24 leased contract. Shave a few dollars off (1300 as apposed to 1500) for the right MF. Search the 'Fest for MF rates to see +/- where you want to be.
Good luck with WWC and due let us know how it goes. Can you provide the full specs on the car?
