Man, what a sh*thole.

I'd move to SB in a second if my job here didn't totally kick ass.

As I recall, Cisco Systems used to have a division here in S.B.

This picture is sorta deceptive ~ doesn't show a whole lot but a slice of town....

Less than 4 months...
I can't afford to live there, but it sure is a nice place to visit. Mind if we bring a couple hundred friends down from the SFBA and hang out for a day or two?

Not a division, just a sales office. I need to be at HQ.

wow, I should live there. Oh wait, I do!
What's funny about that picture is just in the opposite direction it will seem more city like.
Don't get me wrong though, it still is that nice.

Santa Barbara is about 180 miles North of Oceanside...

Anyone have any good recomendations for a place to stop for lunch along the 101 between LA and, oh, Ventura? We drove my daughter up to UCSB for the winter quarter a couple of weekends ago. While a lovely drive, once we passed the LA area, we wound up stopping for lunch at the Denny's in Camarillo... (hmm, I can't seem to locate the puking guy emoticon) I found myself wondering where people who know the area would stop for a quick bite?

There are tons of places that won't make you : puke: , and won't break your wallet.
I can give you several choices for any exit you pick from mid-San Fernando Valley through Woodland Hills, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Oxnard, or Ventura.

Santa Barbara s a great place, and for only $1.5 million you too can own a 600 sq ft garage fixer upper!!!
When it's green, it's one of the nicest small cities I've ever been to. I love it there, I'm coming all the way from Florida again this year for the bimmerfest weekend.
Hopefully some some rain it will be as beautiful as last year, but more sun!
The restaurants and just general climate of the main street with so many nice cars is amazing to me, too bad it costs 3+ million for a decent sized home!:(

Anything in particular you'd like to eat? Casual table service? Quick Service? Price?
I have a ton of recommendations..

Re. location (from mark_m5's question) how about Camarillo, Carmen exit? Or thereabouts? Also, any rec's for Ventura, I think California Street, the main drag, would be appreciated. We actually have seen an herbalist on that street, who has been very helpful, but as far as where to eat... :dunno:
As far as type of food, usually just sandwich or salad, although sometimes we're after breakfast fare, even though it may be lunchtime or later. Definitely casual, quick service, easy on the wallet... :)

How about Olive Garden? It's in Oxnard at the Rose exit, not too far from Carmen. It's one of our favorites.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

There's fast food all over the place. Maybe GeneArch has a location near there he likes.

Thanks for the reply! Seeing this list, though, makes me realize something I didn't before, so didn't articulate -- I guess what I was hoping to discover was non-chain places that only the locals know about. :)

For breakfast / lunch in Camarillo, I gotta go with Eggs N Things.
http://chefmoz.org/United_States/CA/Camarillo/Eggs-N-Things1013381605.html (Eggs N Things in Camarillo)
The food is as close to home cooked as you can get at a restaurant, and the people are very friendly. Just don't be in a rush, as the place fills up quickly on weekends, so you might have to wait a little while. While waiting, I strongly suggest a chat with the locals. They are very friendly.

They have one in T.O. too (@ Moorpark / Janss). Very popular. If it's like the one there, you'll have plenty of time to chat with locals while waiting for a table.
