This area seems to be dead, maybe we can bring it back to life.
Here is my new car. :D The weather has not been good enough to get good photos yet.

The previous owner built it. Yes, I do have some things to sort out and change. I may get different wheels all together.
Weather is going downhill in OH. :thumbdwn: May be put away for a while. :(

Weight is the main reason. They do look though.

Nice ride and with S14.net down the M boys might venture here.
I just bought some E34 16x8 et23 for mine. Now I need some tires.
Renee
01-18-2007, 03:16 PM
I like this wheel, 17 lbs. Triple black will look hot.
http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/oz/swap/oz_ultraleggera_mblk_ci3_l.jpg
I am also looking for tires. I may go with the BFG KDW2 or Yoko Advan Neov AD07.
Looking forward to getting back out on the track with the E30!

I love your E30! any better pics of your M3 Renee? Btw, are the wheels Rondell's?
Renee
01-30-2007, 04:18 PM
Thanks. :)
I believe the wheels are ASA AR1s.
It is very cold and the roads are covered with salt. :thumbdwn: It's staying in the garage for now. The weather turned before I could get more pictures. :(
Mods include: suspension, exhaust, fly wheel, intake, injectors, chip, stainless lines, the list goes on.... :D
It was built by the prior owner and I have some things to work out in the spring. The interior is in excellent shape. All the switches, cruise, heated seates are in working order.

You can get caps from TireRack for those ASA wheels... they'll even put the Roundel on them (a decal, I think)...

Caps are ordered, just not here yet.

Beautiful!!!!
These are 19"s? You must be somewhere flat, 17"s are rough in the mid-west (aka pothole hell)!
You track the 2002? That's sweet! I have a friend who races his 2002, he was my instructor at Mid-Ohio for my first school.
The Camaro is very nice too! I have a friend with a yellow '69.
Thanks for the compliments. I'm running 18" wheels on the m3. The '02 gets occasional track time but it's mainly a street car.

hey all. took a couple pictures of my '88 e30 this evening and thought i'd share it. i picked my m3 up last fall after dreaming about owning one for years and years. this one needs a little work, but i figure i can tackle these problems in the years to come. ;-)
i'm in orange county california. are you all in the midwest? if not... are you all going to make it to bimmerfest in santa barbara?

It looks very nice! I love Alpine White!
I may be the only one posting here from the Mid-West. Most of the E30 M3 posts are from the west coast.
I took my car to E30Fest in Columbus last weekend and won 2nd place. Even have a trophy! :)

No, it has an E36 M3 transmission and 3.25 LSD. From what I understand, it will bolt up to the stock transmission, but it's not ideal.
There are some sites out there with good info. http://www.terrysaytherauto.com/E30-S52Conversion.htm
Good luck!

I guess it all depends on what you call an "engine." My understanding is that the s52 weighs 100lbs more than the s14. I saw one web-site had s14 at 350lbs. I also saw on another web-site that an n52 engine weighs 354lbs. I don't know if these numbers on an apples/apples basis. If these numbers are correct, n52 could be a nice swap w/ little weight distribution penalty (although two more cylinders over the front axle). Anyone have these numbers? I'm obsessed with car/parts weight.
Renee
07-15-2007, 12:43 PM
Yes, the S52 does weigh more. I need to get my car on corner scales, but it should be around 2,900 lbs. With a motor putting out around 275 hp, I think the 80 - 100 lbs increase is worth it. ;)

It's an infrared picture. I bought a Hoya IR filter to capture the effect. B&H Photo sells the filters. (Less expensive than converting a camera to IR). You get some really interesting results, they vary by camera, exposure, settings, etc.

Had it on the dyno a few times...none lately (after I changed the wiring harness). I was down 100 hp from 6500-7600 rpms. I think it is a vanos issues which is ultimately a wiring harness issue (hence the change of the harness). It dyno'd at 265RWHP...with a properly functioning Vanos I expect that number to be 275.

Car looks great. My g/f is looking at getting an E30 M3 as a weekend car (a little street, a little track - she already drives her E36 M3 better than most men I know, and that would still be her primary autox vehicle). She just signed up on S14.net, do you have any tips on this to look for or avoid?

S14 is a great place to start. Getting one with a strong motor or recent rebuild would be wise.
Good luck with your search! Hope she finds a good one.
