3 hours seems a bit much... consider that some peeps will be driving an hour just to get to the meet. One of the things I tend to enjoy is to meet different folks, see their cars, and get to know them. I'd say keep the drive short (hour sounds fine) and give folks the chance to relax and gather.

I drive my car enough ;), let's do a meet and greet as I personally have not been to a bimmer meet yet so if people want to ride around, sure but let's keep it shorter if possible.
