Hi
New member here. I have an e36 323i with a persistant problem: The blower cuts out from time to time, and I've purchased what seems to be the troublesome part: the Resistor. Having read the various threads I found it looked a (relatively) simple fix.
However, when the part arrived it didn't look like what I'd seen: a spikey sort of thing. what arrived has a female socket with a pack of resistors on the back.
OK I'm assuming my suppliers have supplied the correct thing, so where do I start. It seems that unlike the spikey thing it doesn't fit on the RH side of the centre section, So I'm assuming its on the LH side of the controls.
Anyone done this fix? Pictures would be really:thumbup: helpfull!

I have. The replacement should look like a "Spikey thing".
THere are pictures on the web and this forum. Do a search on FInal Stage Resistor.
On my car, US 97 328I the final stage resistor was under my steering wheel, left hand drive.
It took me about 15 minutes to do the job.

If you have an analog 4 blower position control, the blower uses a resistor pack. If you have a digital climate control, the blower uses a Final Stage Unit.

What bewilders me is that I've taken the panels off and nothing looks like the thread I've looked at on here. My suppliers assure me the part I've got is correct, according to their records (Europarts).
There doesn't seem to be anywhere that looks familiar... (THread was based on the E46)
I have the climate control /a.c. thing, not the mechanical controls..
Thanks for all your help.

guys,
my blower quit, i have been tearing in to find the resostor pack and I can't find it
I took the glove box off, side triming on the center off, center consol off, radio out, driver side triming off, but I can't find it.
the dealer provided me with the page from the parts catalog but it does not give a good indication of the location, it just shows the blower cage and the resistor pack next to it. I can't even see the motor. I am preplexed as I have done this before on other cars but this 1991 318IS is kinking my but
any help is appreciated
