I'm hearing from other forums that the Comfort (multi-contour) Seat supplier has gone bankrupt and the seats are no longer available for future production X5's. Anyone hear anything about this? My salesperson has not heard anything and it's an option I ordered.

I know that the supplier has been having problems since production started. I ordered comfort seats on my X5 4.8. My client advisor did not change my vehicle to "priority 1" or customer sold status; instead it was left as "priority 3" or dealer owned. No changes can be made to a priority 1 vehicle - by the owner, the dealer or the factory. But a priority 3 vehicle can be changed by the factory. So when there was a shortage of the comfort seats, the factory pulled the comfort seats from my vehicle.

To retrofit my X5 with comfort seats would mean dismantling the vehicle all the way down to the electric cables under the carpet and redoing the K-CAN system. Not possible, at least not this year.

Soooo, I am experiencing a sudden sense of schadenfreude with news that the comfort seat supplier has possibly gone bankrupt. Although I wish my client advisor had not made that mistake and I wish my vehicle had comfort seats, I am happy that no one else will be able to have them either. LOL!

Since other BMW models (euro made) offer Comfort Seats I don't know why the european supplier can't also supply them for the X5.

Oh-oh. I need to call the dealer to get my production status. I'm at priority 1 with the Active Ventilated Seat package.

It must be hell being a supplier to BMW. I read on m5board that BBS became insolvent last week.:behead:

I sure hope this is not true. I'll be ordering my E70 in the next couple of months, and Comfort Seats are a MUST. Once you've driven a few hundred miles in a day in them, you'll understand.

If they are not currently available, when do you think they'll find a new source? MY2008?

Comfort seats have been indefinitely pulled from all Canadian production effective March. I had posted in another thread to see if the US was the same, but no response yet....

Well I called BMW's customer service number and was told that they have no information about Multi-Contour seats not being available, I'm awaiting further word from my dealer. I heard on other boards that they were not available, hopefully they are.
