Does anyone know when Navteq will come out with the 2007.2 version of their software? I believe V2007.1 came out in august 2006, so the next version should be around the corner. I just got a 2004 760Li, but the DVD in it is V2002.1. The dealer politely directed me to Navteq's 800 #. If the update is a long way away, I might just have to buy the V2007.1....

I don't know what is your definition of long, but you are at least 3 months away from any updates.

Fair enough. Buy the darn thing for $200 when Garmin sells the same Navteq data for $75.
What's on your iPod BTW? ;)

Let me get this right - if you download the data and burn it on a DVD-ROM it will work? Has anyone had success with this? Where would you look for the data?
My understanding from what I read on these forums is that even backup copies of actual NAVTEQ DVDs will not work in the drives.....

Sorry... Don't own an Ipod:dunno: I've got XM and Sirius to keep me busy. And yes!! I respect other people's intellectual property, and I give credit where credit is due.

The term "back-up" Implies that you have the original. When you don't have the original disk. The appropriate term is know as a "PIRATE COPY"!!

I use a backup version of the disc, and yes, I purchased 2007.1:

I'm always futzing around with the navigation system... playing with new firmwares, etc. I don't want my original disc to get scratched, so I use a backup.

what format did you burn the back-up disc? DVD-R, etc?

I used Taiyo Yuden 16x DVD-R media (www.nomorecoasters.com rates TY as top tier media). Had no problems burning at 16x.

When you're ready to make the update plunge, you might look at the Navteq website (http://www.navteq.com/) to see what is the most current DVD for your car. Also, the site give you the opportunity to see what's been added to the last disc, most particularly, cities in the US and Canada. Looking at the list might make you consider if you really need to have the streets of, say Saskatoon...maybe yes, but maybe no. As to the updated points of interest, my experience is that the BMW system software (not the data software from Navteq) is so dense and difficult, that updated points of interest are certainly not worth $199.:tsk:

To the OP, I used a Memorex DVD+R at 4x. It worked first time in the car.

You ARE talking about piracy, which will not be discussed here.
For all others, my copy of 2007-2 shipped from NavTeq yesterday.

It is a violation of Navteq's licensing agreement to split up the set.

I was wondering if there was a difference in performance between the 2007.2 DVD's and the 2007.2 CD's. Practically I only need the 2007.2 Ca CD. However, if the DVD is faster and has better graphics and or features, I prefer the DVD. Also, I have a range rover- same system as the 2006 X5. I think I need the 2007.2 HIGH version and not the CCC or professional version since I do not have I-drive. Does anyone have any leads to where I can make a "Backup Copy" from? Thanks!

The CDs and DVDs contain the same map/points of interest... the DVD simply contains the entire US/Canada.
...and once again, discussing software piracy here will not be tolerated.

How exactly do you figure you have a choice between CD and DVD? :dunno:

All of the DVD-based systems will still read the CDs. If you're purchasing used from eBay and the CD set is cheaper... and you don't mind the inconvenience of switching CDs when going from region to region...

Are there Torrents out there with this software? Can I burn it and use it in my 04 745i?

I printed out the picture of the DVD from the previous page and put it in my nav system but all it did was crumple up and get stuck. Had to use tweezers to get the paper out. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to copy it a different way?
