View Full Version : ATTN: "Old" people going to BF2007...
My wife and I were possibly among the oldest people at the 'Fest in 2005. We could not make it last year, but we are thinking of bringing our new-to-us M Roadster this year. So a few questions:
(1) Anyone interested in joining us for a reasonably good dinner on Friday or Saturday nights? Options include SB, Los Olivos, or ??
(2) We probably won't take more than 2-3 hours on Saturday to look at cars, so anyone up for a winery trip or something similar during the day?
This is not a joke. In fact, I'm thinking of setting a minimum age limit. And I'm willing to wade through the abusive comments to find a few serious ones.

How old is old? Parameters need to be defined...
My teenage kids think I'm really old at 46.
:dunno:
I guess it depends on how you feel. :dunno:
To be more specific, I'm (just) over 60 and have owned a variety of sports and foreign cars for over 30 years. But I'm willing to talk to you young people too.

Heck, the way your back was bothering you last October, they're not the only ones :p

Hey this 53 year old youngster apprieciates the conversation. I'll see if I can bring my 49 year old wife.
BF2007 is going to be great! Last year was my first event and I had a grand time! :beerchug:

Jon:
We are still planning to attend. When you get a chance, please send me a PM with your secret list of the best restaurants in the area. Thanks!

Gah - I can't attend but would probably be in on this -- I have Jon beat by 1 :D.
Good luck at the 'fest and have a great time.
I thought 60 years of age is like a BMW turning 200k miles...just broken-in!

In general that is a good attitude. But we are worried about finding someone to extract us from the roadster after a 5-hour trip. :D
More seriously...anyone with restaurant recommendations that are (significantly) more upscale than the Elephant Bar, please pass them on.

There are plenty of restaurants in SB that are more upscale than the E-Bar, they just can't accomodate large groups. The event at the E-Bar is not about the food. (edit: and more importantly to me, the people I come to Santa Barbara with and/or to see again every year will be there)
I have eaten at the Palace Grill and enjoyed it immensely. There can be a long wait and they don't take reservations.

Wow, I thought I was old at 30. I guess it's not going to be abnormal to still be into cars when I'm "old". Just in a different way. Modding is definitely going to be different.

You may think you are old at 30, and you would be right. But if you think we are old at 40+, you are wrong :D You see males start regressing after a certain point. Haven't you noticed?

I don't think age should be your only filter, criterion. Level of maturity is probably what is important to you. A well read 20 year old may be more fun than a dull 65 year old.

If you're into Sushi, there's an awesome place downtown... Atigato Sushi (http://www.santabarbara.com/dining/review_read.asp?pk_restaurant=584)
