The last group seems really expensive. What about the group from LA?

You might get a better deal with the ones who don't have to travel as far.

Jon, Mariachi's are like women, the more you have the better:eeps:  J/K!!!! No but seriously, it's true. I would say go with the first one or the second to the last. They seem to be alittle more authentic:dunno:

This is no Mariachi. They do tropical latin music; salsa, cumbia, merengue, and Reggaeton. :dunno:

You mean we don't have a Mariachi band that lives in SB?? Shop local if possible.. It is Cinco de Mayo, the town should be filled with mariachi bands here for other events that may just want another early event at Earl Warren.

Jon,
As background, Mariachi bands should have more than 12 members to be true Mariachi; the classic configuration includes the following:
six to eight violins,
two trumpets,
a guitar,
the vihuela,
the guitarrón ; and
a Mexican folk harp.
Looking at the list you have provided, it would appear the first one, Mariachi Mexicanisimo, would give you the most authentic performance for the buck since they are local.
Mambo is a classic and fun music played in the coastal areas of Mexico. It can be a fun diversion to have a xalaphone be the center of your evening. Mambo bands typically cost less than a third of what Mariachi bands charge.
So, it really depends how the music will be used. Mariachi bands customarily move around a lot (they can follow you around town or just mill around a party) they will make certain every woman in the room feels flattered and attractive and they will provide a general level of showmanship you will not find in other bands. Mambo is more typical of what we think of when considering cultural bands.
I hadn't planned on making the trip, but now that I know there will be Mariachi, I may need to make a reservation at a hotel and load the tequila flights into the trunk. It sounds like a really fun time.
Great idea Jon!
Viva bimmerfest!

Hey Jon.
I saw this thread late. :(
I know of a Mariachi that is made up of mainly 13yr olds-19yr olds, and they are awesome!
I believe there from LA, let me know for next year.
