I have come to realize I need front brakes and the rotors turned as well. Now does this have to go back to the dealer or can any authorize brake shop do the repair what U fellas suggest holler back. Also does anyone know how much more HP that dam sports button gives you cause I haven't even used the dam thing I am already out running the **** here in town lol.

It is a better idea to replace the rotors( bmw and good repair shops do not turn bmw rotors, although they can physically be turned) bmw rotors are not like other makes where they have a thick meaty rotor.

Right. It's a throw away part. Indy shops charge HALF what the dealer charges. I got almost the same quote FRONT AXLE ONLY from the local dealer as BOTH AXLES at a Goodyear shop. That's why we call 'em $tealers.

Cost of Front + Rear at Goodyear shop = cost of front alone at Bimmer dealer. I say, price it yourself to see. I think that all the parts are the same, it's just that the dealer charges an hourly rate equivalent to a neurosurgeon.

We all know that some model M5's came with shades for the rear passengers. My question is can you have those same shades installed on your M5 even if they didn't come with it, does anyone know around how much it would run to install the rear window and both rear passenger doors.

Sports button doesn't give you any more horsepower - it just changes the throttle mapping to the gas pedal (as well as making the steering tighter). It feels like more horsepower because a smaller movement in the gas pedal produces a greater acceleration.

Don't have a clue what your last sentence was supposed to say...

That's a good question, and one that might have an answer someplace in the E39 section. I'm curious too, but don't have time to do the search right now.

I had my breaks done last year. The BMW Dealership was going to charge me $1,600 for a complete brake repair.
I ended up going to a "prestige" shop that especializes in BMW's and they charged me $450.00 for front and back. Actually the pads that they put on don't have as much brake dust as the regular OEM

In regard to the window shade, I resurrected an old thread on m5board.com, but it's probably not something frequently done due to cost.

I'd like to know if anybody can help with info on the shade project.
