I thought carbon black was only a M color in the US?

With the new M-Sport, the color availability has come to non M's. Good thing since the 550 will come offered with the M-Sport package.

I thought about Carbon Black, which is a unique color for 550i with SP only, in fact that was the color in the initial order. I had to ask CA to change to Platinum Gray at status 111. My wife's car is black and it is tough to keep it clean but most importantly IMO, the current Bangle designed E60 doesn't look good in black. :tsk: Just my opinion, it doesn't look good in almost any color. Sad.

M550 - Are you ED'ing an '07 or '08? I didn't realize you could pickup an '08 as early as 4/16. I'm picking up an '07 on 4/2 and I'm surprised the two are available so close together - although I'm sticking with the '07 due to price and the low Dec. MF that was offered.

Hi, mine is a MY2008. The earliest pickup date for MY2008 is April 2.

Everything is kind of in the dark wrt pricing. My deal with the dealer is xxxx over whatever the invoices may be. I never really liked the look of E60. The new M-sports package is the one that drove me to the decision. I am quite excited. It's like going to the wedding without ever seeing the bride before. Is she pretty, sexy, loud, quiet, bossy?

I haven't decided about leasing or buying outright. If the MF is really bad, then I will just buy it and trade it in 3 years for a M3/4-door  or keep it for a while and give it to my daughter as her first car. haha.

This is what being an all-out bimmerphile is all about. I have a 97 E39 and initially HATED the Bangalized E60. I am still not crazy about it, but think the 08's are slightly better and I cannot imagine owning another marque. My E39 has only 161k miles on the clock, and I will either put a new clutch in it, or MAYBE, buy an 08 E60 - as the world turns......

Maybe 2 year leases are your answer as I know that depreciation hit hurts.

I love Carbon Black as a colour, I had it on my 330Ci MSport (I live in the UK) but it was impossible to keep clean especially over winter. I've now got an E60 Touring (530d MSport) in Silver Grey - it's a boring colour but doesn't show the dirt.
Incidentally, I love the look of the E60 with the MSport bodykit and have done ever since it was launched!

I am trying to decided between Carbon Black and Platinum Gray as well.

Don't know if you have time before your order, but IMO it would really help to see some examples of Carbon Black in person as opposed to just pictures. Others who have seen it say that this is the only way to fully appreciate it with changes in light, etc. Also hear that it really shows dirt, just like other blacks.

Right now I am leaning toward Carbon Black and a 2 year lease. :dunno:

Has anyone seen the new Deep Sea Blue?

No, the pricing has not been released  These cars go into production in/during Week 11 (Sunday March 11th or Monday March 12th) so I am hoping that for once BMW NA will be logical (heaven forbid) and release both the new pricing AND the new colors on March 1st...BUT, do not hold you breath....

I believe it is only available on the 08 550 with sport package. You can't even get it on an M car (unless the roadster/coupe offers it).

You can however now get the M5 in Monaco Blue which you can not get on the 08 550 with sport package.
