The Bentley manual says 2 but when I have gone to auto supply sites and put my model and make in the order system, it typically says I need 4 (2 pre cat and 2 post cat). Since my car does not have the true dual exhaust like an M3, it seems like I should have 2, 1 pre and 1 post. Does anyone actually have my model and know for sure how many I actually have? I don't want to jack the car up just to look...any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just looked it up in different book I have and it says that I have four and I found a different part of the Bentley that says four as well.

I think you'll find that although the M52 doesn't really use a totally dual exhaust, the manifolds are divided into two, one for cylinders 1-3 and the other for cylinders 4-6. They come together at the catalytic converter. I know when my car throws codes, it says that the cyl 1-3 O2 sensor is below efficiency. Therefore, I would say there are 4 altogether.
