Any graphic designers in the house?
Looking for someone to create a design that incorporates/integrates the thematic
elements of Bimmerfest, BMW cars, and Cinco De May (if that's possible!)...
Winner will get a prize.
The design will need to be very high-resolution.
I made this one myself (obviously, it sucks)... :)

 Not that I have any room to laugh, but your design is very classic. It reminds me of the 5 for $5 t-shirts that seem to be sold in every Mexican tourist-trap town.

It's bimmerfest, not Cinco de Mayo. :tsk:
I don't understand the need to include "Cinco de Mayo" in the logo at all. Kind of dilutes the brand if you ask me.
It is great that the event is being held on that day, and that there might be some theming as it relates to the venue, but I wouldn't mess with the logo.

I kind of agree with you, but if the logo is specific to the 2007 event only, then having a Cinco de Mayo influence in the logo makes some sense.

...Just a separate logo for the 2007 event only, not a complete brand or image overhaul.
Santa Barbara has a huge Hispanic heritage; perhaps befitting to include this element for this year?
(The "Old Spanish Days Fiesta" is what Santa Barbara is most famous for)

Jon,
Can we actually use the bmw roundel in the logo? When is the deadline to turn this is?
More info on what you're looking for always helps:)

Hey Jon,
Nice to see you, Bud!
We can't use the actual roundel per se, but certain elements hinting at it should be acceptable...
;)
After all, this whole thing exists solely to celebrate THE BRAND...
Any new mods to your award-winning car for this year?

Not really an entry, but Jbob gave me the idea and I spent a few minutes in PhotoShop just for ****s and giggles!

yes!!! :D
I think a basic 2 color version (maybe use the Patron green, orange, or yellow colors for the base color of the bottle, and then the black label) would look pretty cool on a shirt

Jon -
What is the deadline for design submissions?
How many colors max can be used?
No BMW logo, any other limitations?

There are no limitations or restrictions.
Time limit? How about March 31st?
The winning designs may be used to create an official Bimmerfest 2007 poster,
or perhaps a t-shirt design?
:stickpoke

Crap, this means that I need to start practicing my tequilla shooting techniques. :drink:

Im not sure incorporating BMW cars with tequila is a good idea. But it is a pretty funny pic! Last years Polizei shirts were shweet!!! Since maybe you cant use the roundel, you could use the grills or something like that that really captures bimmers?

Just another idea for the mix. I know it's pushing the "per se" limit, but it's just an idea.

May need to tone down the Roundel a bit, but you are definitely on the right track!

Hi Jon, I was asked by a friend of mine, Jeff (jvr826), to submit a logo...so here's an idea which shows bimmers as pinatas...it's created in a program that can scale to what ever size is needed. If you would like to use it or want changes, please let me know...thanks!

Is the artwork all original??
I hand drew them while looking at pictures I found...no cut and paste from a photo here. I have another with M colors...you might like this version better

First, Jon you're right...yours kinda sucks.....:p
Second, I agree with those that say Cinco De Mayo shouldn't "have" to be part of the logo..so it falls on that Saturday....big deal...

Diddo to all of that.
Just because it's on the same date dosen't mean that it HAS to be represented on there. I don't mind a little hint of it in the banner, but if it's overpowering then it takes away from the reason that we're all there.

One thing you guys are forgetting: Santa Barbara, and its "Old Spanish Days Fiesta" are practically synonymous. Santa Barbara has a very strong heritage dating back to Cabrillo, hence the meaningfulness of Cinco De Mayo. For many attendees coming from far away places it can be a big deal. I can see how it wouldn't matter much to a local or somebody from San Diego...

One thing you guys are forgetting...if Cinco de Mayo is on the logo, people will not forget when the event is. I would kinda like to see a more modern interpretation of the logo in post #26. I like it though.

Exactly, so it says Cinco De Mayo, if it didn't say that, then it would say May 5 2007.
So wherever your at and someone that hasn't participated see's the shirt, they think, cool, Cinco De Mayo '07. what's wrong with that? :dunno:

Here's another idea.
http://jonsibal.com/bfest07.jpg
We can probably do some more tweaking to it just to make it better. I toned down the roundel in the back but if its gonna cause some problems, we can just replace it win a sun or something.:p
And yes, all original artwork so no worries.
Let me know if that works.

See what a good kick start can produce.
What's all the fuss about Cinco de Mayo? "Cinco de Mayo" translates to English as "May 5," so having Cinco de Mayo is a colorful way to inform the public that BF is on May 5. Now, if the fest was May 2, Dos de Mayo hasn't been ADvercrammed in our heads therefore it wouldn't work because 75% couldn't translate it.
Jon, just in case, the answer is "yes."

Instead of excluding BMW's 10 years and older, maybe include one. It would break the cookie-cutter headlights and add a classic touch to the logo.

Hey Jon, is it possible to get "Bimmerfest 2007" on the left breast of the T-Shirt too, or is that to much of a hassle?
Just curious?

So, do we have time to run another quick (like 2 day maximum) poll on most votes of which BMW model and year should grace the graphic?
I vote for a 2003 E39 M5!!! :D :p

I think in the future it would be cool if we could have more time (a set date) and then set up a poll for members to vote on which design?
I just think the shirts are kinda a big deal, but no one seems to really know how to get involved until it's too late in the design process when it's something they can take part in. This is something that people are potentially going to wear; so you'd think a lot of people (more so than now) want more say in it. I am commenting mainly because each year (past 3 fore me) I overhear people asking, "Who came up with the shirt design; How can I get involved in the design", etc.
Jon, your thoughts?

Can people that cannot attend BimmerFest this year since we are 400,000 miles away :) purchase a t-shirt and/or a poster? If so, how?
Also, I like the choice of art...but maybe more BMW representation with the car?? A layman may not even know it is a BMW, since the roundel is so subtle....Just a thought :dunno:
