I get a product called 'EXPORT TYRE CLEANER" from supercheap auto. Its au$3.99 a can. Does a great job on the tyres, but burns the fcuk out of your skin, blemishes the paint, and, did I say it stings your eyes. It also makes it hard to breathe, BUT, apart from all of that, it cleans the tyres really really well...!!!

They call it Export because it shouldn't be used in Australia. They use it to clean out the bunkers in Iraq. It will clean your BBQ in 3.5 seconds and has a half life of 4000 years.

Have to side with the Cone. I'm sure this product is called "Export" everywhere in the world because no country will own up to it. It's very cheap and effective, but the side effects ! One of my sons looks like the Phantom Menace - hope it wears off ! Some people say Export is a by-product of Agent Orange, but I'm sure that it's more powerful than that.

So it's sort of like Vegemite?
The FDA banned that stuff over here because it glows in the dark.

vegemite - yeah I can understand that one. There's only one trick to Vegemite, though most people never get it. I think it's a cultural thing. Man, spread it thin... Think you'll find it's owned by an American company - Kraft. It's use is an Aussie secret.

I have a sister lives in Perth. She says the locals put Vegemite on the rubber nipple of the baby's bottle to get the kid off to a flying start. Dunno how it works on tires though!:p

Make sure you buff it off though. Otherwise dogs will follow you around and lick your tyres.
But seriously, what do I use to clean tyres? I clean wheels & tyres with detergent, then dry them off. After that I apply a coat of ArmourAll (or similar) with a cut off car wash sponge. You know, those really fat ones. Keep one handy and you can use it to apply shine to your plastic bumper and side protector strips as well.

Maybe it is cos i have been drinking, but are people REALLY saying to put Vegemite, the Marmite alternative, on tyres?
Man, i must have drank more than i thought!!!

Yeah Pete - you got it right. I was a bit under the weather myself last nite and contributed a couple of left handed posts if you know what I mean. Think this thread self destructed and digressed a bit along cultural lines.... Anyways, my last post is how I clean tires so I guess the original thread has been restored.

definetly not armor all if you live anywhere where there is dirt cause it sticks to stuff that has been armeralled hardcore!

If you live anywhere near dirt buy a 4WD LOL. Certainly doesn't stick to my tires anyway. I only put the thinnest of smears of the stuff on, just enough to give a shine.

hi guys, ive heard about the export stuff at supercheap auto and havent used it. Looks like i wont be either.
I just clean my tyres with a sponge and soapy water that i used to wash the car. Then after they have naturally tried i put this stuff called "soo easy".
Just spray it on all around the tyre. At first it looks like white milky stuff but after its penetrated the tyre it looks AWSOME!. Just like silicon but 100x easier and it lasts!
And ive noticed u dont get as much flickback onto the quatre and side panels. Awsome stuff.
For u guys in australia its in a white bottle :)

Sorry if you got the wrong impression of Export products Dom. I just got caught up in the moment I suppose. I use the Export tyre cleaner and it is pretty good. Not as good as Armourall in my view, but that's pretty subjective I suppose. One person's clean is another person's dirty. The Export degreaser is also pretty good and it is cheap. You can get it from Bunnings as well as Supercheap. I recently used one of those handle type brushes that you put the detergent into the end. It has a green scouring pad on the end. Cleaned the wheels a treat until it dryed and I saw all the scratches. Definitely DON'T recommend using this. Luckily if was only on my Commodore - the guinea pig car LOL.

i just double checked and its called "so easy" by a company called crc
Rickman
02-25-2007, 03:44 AM
CRC also make a Silicon spray that's really good for your door and trunk rubbers. It leaves a protectant coating. Expensive, but worth the money.

awsomeee! Ill keep my eyes open for it. It would be good for tyres aswell :D

It's a bit sticky for tyres. The residue is a bit like vaseline. You can get it from Bunnings for about $12.

Then there's, Not So Easy that you wouldn't bother. A mate of mine reckons that they "Don't marry your eyes" so it's OK to look at other women.
