View Full Version : NOAH Car Cover Damages Finish

Bought a NOAH cover, cable and lock on the advice of the parts dept. at my dealer in July. After a few months, the lock was so corroded it wouldn't close. Had to replace it with a rust-resistant lock from Home Depot, which I had to surround with electrical tape to protect the car.

Worse, the cover blows off the car in even moderate winds, stressing the cable and lock and moving them around-- something you don't want to happen! Yesterday in stiff winds the cover came off while I was at work and completely rotated around the car, causing either the cable or lock to scratch the finish and put a 5-inch mark on the right front door. I am forced now to negotiate with the Parts manager for help with the damage. :bawling: I specifically asked if the cover would damage the car, before I bought it. Now, I'm very disappointed with the cover and with the advice.

That's unsat, Silver and I'm sorry to hear this. Was this a Covercraft product? I have one of their Noah covers for my Explorer, and am about to order a lighter fabric cover for the 335. Security in high winds means you need a very good fit.

Covercraft is very good quality in my experience, but I wonder who made this one? I don't think I'll go to the dealer for it. Was it Fairfax??

I have a Noah cover for my 530i and it seems to do fine in the wind although I watched the sides flapping around whilst it was windy. Didn't have the cable on at time though.

My cable/lock fits with little slack and the elastic on the front and back is pretty snug so maybe that makes some difference. Mine's never come off although I realize that's no help to you.

My NOAH cover for my '05 SLK 350 (parked in MS about 80 miles form New Orleans) stayed on during Hurricane Katrina.

My set-up has also been through haricanes without damage to the paint surface (with a cable lock)

Two-cover system:
During high winds or prolonged storage the use of this system will avoid paint surface marring from the cover being buffered by high force winds (Hurricanes)

1. Dustop TM Four layer cover with maximum dust protection and its soft inner layer protects paint from marring

2. WeathersheildTM - single layer construction, primarily for intense sun environments and long-term storage provides optimum protection from water, dust, tree sap, while providing long-term UVR protection and maximum weatherproof protection from a multi-layer breathable fabric.

isn't "noah" just the material name used? So the different manufactures are responsible for the fit?

Exactly what "lumanikus" said.

I was about to ask the same type of questions. I was looking at

http://www.carcoversdirect.com/index.php

And was wondering what the fit and finish was like if anyone ordered from these guys.

I believe all of the materials come from the same group of people, then it depends on the company your buying from to stitch and fit the covers unless you get a generic fit cover.

Some companies cut multiple seams across the car, some companies only cut two seams. The fit and how far down on the car they go differs from company to company.

Just wondering if anyone has had issues with fit with the manufacture

No fit problems from Covercraft. None. My new one is a Covercraft Weathershield (not the Weathershield HD which is for extreme sun) and it fits perfectly on my 335 sedan. The NOAH on my old Explorer is also a perfect fit. The NOAH is a softer finish inside and out, but I think the WxShield will be fine.

I purchased the 335 cover through autogeek.com for a competitive price and very timely delivery.
