Also just spoke to a dealer who thinks that BMW is not far away from phasing out the 5 series from production, hence why 2008 pricing is higher and lease rates on the new 2008 5's will be ridiculous. Dealer said BMW may push 5 series sedans in to 6 series category? Anyone hear the same? Maybe I should hold off buying a 2008 535 .

Phasing out the 5 series....as in dropping the 5 -series?

Thats like Honda dropping the Accord. as in...no way.

The 6 series cannot replace the 5 series becasue of the smaller interior. I have a 5 series becasue the 6 does not accomodate rear passengers as comfortable as the 5. They would not get rid of the 5 because it caters to drivers who need the 4 door and the interior room.

Besides, the XI is not available on the 6 series yet.
