That's not Vince posting...His hamsters has gotten a hold of him and is holding him hostage. This post was a coded message to the rest of their hamster compadres to rise up and take over the world.

I am interested in starting a collection, but I have one question - How do you find out about all of the available models....much less all of the "new" ones?

Okay, two questions - How do you guys display them?

No pic of the M3 GTR?

I might have to get the black racing version (I think Alex B posted a pic, but the thread on E46 wings seems to be deleted  ).

Yeah.

I only have one other large model car, a McLaren F1. I think an M3 GTR would be a good second purchase.

Why not an E46 sedan?

I have a 1/18 328Ci :eeps:

I like the McLaren as my only 1:18 model as it's nearly a lock that I'll never own a real one. I also have a 1:43 Ferrari 456 GT...also very unlikely I'll ever get a real one.

The M3 GTR fits right in with both of them.

I'll put the E46 sedan right where it belongs, in my garage.

Hrm...you can start from a theme. That's what I did. I started collecting E36 touring cars, mostly from DTM, ETCC, STW, BTCC etc. Then slowly expand your collection as you go along. Right now, I have about 150 miniatures, from 1/18, 1/24, 1/43 to 1/87s. You will learn about the collectibility of a certain brand of miniatures. Also any dealer's edition will worth more than a regular release. Minichamps manufacture all of BMW 1/43. Kyosho produced all the 1/18.

I bought some of the older ones from Ebay. But it's a risky thing to do. Well, I am very anal when it comes to collecting a perfect model. Sometimes the models that are sold on Ebay were slightly damaged, yet the description says otherwise. Unless the seller is a collector too.

Before you buy or start anything, drop me an email. I can help you out. :D

Here's a website I used to run: http://crash.to/littlebmws.

And here are a couple of pics:

Here's my shrine of BMW miniatures. Picture taken 1.5 years ago. Now the cabinet is FILLED up. So much that I had to display some of my models at my work place. :eeps:

This is one of favs. Why? It's released by BMW back in 1995. And it has a wrong decal. Can you spot it? :D

BMW Team Schnitzer never used Yoko tires back in the mid 90s when they raced the STW series. Only Michelins. Hence this model has a value of....ahem... ;)

btw, I modify some of the models, so that the chassis sits a bit lower too.

If I did, that must have been before bimmerfest!

I've had that model for quite a while now. I saw it on display at BMW of Houston North during a service visit and HAD to buy it :D

Thanks for the offer, I will certainly take you up on that when I decide to get serious.....for now I will probably just use birthdays/holidays as an excuse to gather one here and there (my wife is getting me the GTR for Valentine's :) ).

Keep the new/rare model info coming
