Just a good public service, perhaps something we can keep doing so people are aware of which dates are already full. I'll have some to add soon I think once I hear back.

The good news: I have a production number!
The bad news: My requested date of 5/21 was full, so they booked me on 5/22.
Last time, I was able to get a date confirmation in a day or so. This time, it took over a week.
If the date is full, can I request for an express ED? I'd rather do that on 5/21 if possible.

Hmm....
I was told April 27,2007 was full.
but then again i was told all dates were full through May pretty much.
That's why my date came back May 23. Even then, my CA told me that this date just happened to be the only one open until late june early july.
Not sure if he was pulling my leg, but i guess I'll take it for what it's worth since he confirmed 05/23 for me.

Shoot, I just requested 5/18, so I guess I'll be told that I'm outta luck. I wonder if some earlier April dates might still be available if people are slanting towards May because of the weather and so forth.

According to the BMW ED webpage, 5/17 and 5/18 are German holidays.

Weren't you going 04/27? Only reason i'm recalling this is because i was looking up to see what other 'festers would be picking up that day as my requested date was 04/27 also.
My CA just called me a few days ago to let me know that everything seemed booked through June, but he had 05/23 available and it was the only one available for the next few months.
ED on May 23 here - got it last week though, and put in the request around Feb 26.

We can't get realtime updates on available slots because they're changing as fast as the new orders can get into the system. The ED dept has been very busy with a massive amount of new orders. This shouldn't be a problem once the Welt is open for business, but for now, just submit the date, but be realistic with your lead time, they want the cars ready,30 days before you pick them up and hope for the best.If you have submitted a date recently, you should know within a week or two if you date will stick.

Most often, if a date is not available, BMW ED will phone the CA and/or send an email to inform the CA that the requested delivery date is not available.
If it is a long term reservation, like Mac Daddy's, it's order banked.

Adrian or any CAs
I placed my order first week of Feb for end of Aug ED (e90 335i). My CA said he faxed it in that week but has not heard back from BMW as of last week. So what is order banked? Is my price protected because my order was submitted before the March increase? I would ask my CA but they are on vacation for 2 weeks.
Thanks for your help.

My car before this was a 350z 6sp, and the g/f liked to drive it, but I'm very protective of my cars - needless to say, she was the ONLY other person to ever drive it. I must say, I did test drive the auto, and was impressed with that auto more than others I've driven.
Keeping the engagement on the down low would be much appreciated. She thinks we're going to buy a car (which we are) but there's a lovely 1 Ct gift from Tiffany's in it for her. (maybe I've got a better shot she'll forgive me for the car :D )

Whoa...a Tiffany's Eng. ring even...(looks like we have more than just the car in common, and hopefully she doesn't read these forums ;) ) Nice choice! Classic Platinum setting? Lucida? Yeah, that Royal Blue ring box in the traditional Tiffany blue box with white ribbon will probably have her forgiving you for just about anything!
She has no interest to read these forums, nor does she have time (getting ready to go into Pharmacy school). I went with a 1.0XX Ct Platinum Ludica (love the setting personally) and I've had it for quite a while surprisingly, waiting for an appropriate time (I've not bought a Tiffany & Co ring to give it to her anyplace ordinary) - I must say that she expects nothing of the sort, but I find that you really get what you pay for (not to say anything less is crap) but I find that there are certain things you pay for... and I am all about quality over quantity. I must say the royal blue box is nothing short of breathtaking, especially when looking at TONS of jewelry stores (some boxes I wouldn't dare put the ring into LOL) I don't think she'll say a word about my car with the ring on her hand... but IF she does, I'm sure that ring will be a good reminder that I buy her toys too.
That is great. Congrats on the car, but getting engaged is really special. For me it follows only the birth of my children for sheer joy.

Thanks!
It's so hard holding it all in, I've still got 2 1/2 months to go too. Both of our families think we're just crazy/spoiled to do this, but I've not told anyone, for I find that a "secret" becomes public knowledge if someone else in the family finds out - they sure have mouths on them :blah:
We'll both have good stories to tell when we get back too (not that she isn't excited about going to Europe, but she could care less about the car most of the time)

That email went out on Friday. Of course, the center can "donate" an allocation, but that would certainly impact pricing since they're sacrificing an allocation.
They're out of cars for April and May, but June delivery is still available. So for those of you on the bubble to get a E93, you'd better decide fast because I anticipate Summer to be booked early for the E93.
I just had to reschedule one guy from May to July. (June not available for him).

Is it that the slots are filled or just that the coupes and verts are not being manufactured for ED customers during that time period? I always thought the only reason one could not get a date for ED was because the staffing was limited and they could only process x number of cars a day. With that being the case why would it be possible to get ED of a sedan on the same day that one could not get ED of a coupe or vert?

Yes, for June and July. Just remember that the 4th of July holiday will get booked the fastest as most Americans be on holiday and that would be a perfect time to do pick up.
Nobody's getting anything yet. May allocation hasn't been distributed yet. That'll happen near the end of this month. Thus, your order was order banked- put in the cue, so to speak. You'll likely get your production number shortly thereafter.

It's a combination of things. Most dates are booked anyway due to the size of the ED delivery center and they can only handle so many deliveries per day (remember "Express Delivery" last October), but production slots for ED's E93s and E92's have been exhausted. That can happen. It has in the past with Coupes, 06 5's last year when they had crazy lease deals, etc. They like any center get a limited quantity of cars as well. It's not like an unlimited supply they have access to.
So yes, if you were considering a different model with more availability you could possibly squeeze one in, but I do think that most dates in May are filled.

Adrian,
Your hitting on the exact question I had. I signed all the paperwork last night for a 335 Convertible and requested July 2nd delivery. My CA told me that we wouldn't get a Delivery Date Assignment confirmation for 3 to 4 weeks, but that is inside of the 90 day in advance for ordering. What should my expectations be for getting this confirmation. I'm going to Europe for business and need to get things locked down. It makes me a little nervous, like I'm not getting the straight story. Then again, my CA may be trying to under promise and over deliver.
Thoughts? and Thanks.

You should be okay.
For 335i Series, June is now officially full unless your dealer is willing to give up an allocation to accomodate you. Do not count on any or much discounting if this is the case. July is now the next open month.
If your CA just recently sent in a pre-reservation, I seriously doubt that your reservation will be met. If you made a pre-reservation last month for June, you should be okay.

Sorry, but this just confused me. At first you say I should be OK, but then say "seriously doubt that my reservation will be met"? Sometimes clarity gets lost when we don't talk live.
Yesterday, March 12th, I sent in the initial paperwork to request a Delivery Date Assignment of July 2nd.
1. Do you think I will get a slot on or around that date?
2. When do you think I will know if I got the requested date?

They are now suggesting July for pick ups. You should be safe with early July but remember that the 4th of July holiday is a pretty busy time for ED also.
Unfortunately, we won't know until they send us allocation.
Otherwise, you can have your dealer send in a production number if they have allocation and the order will be fulfilled. I'll reiterate- if the center has to donate an allocation, I wouldn't be too optimisitic in getting an savings off ED MSRP.

It has nothing to do with the Welt opening. There's just so much demand for the E92 and E93 that all the ED production slots got scooped up. It's been this way for various models including the 5 at one point I recall. Plus, it's spring and summer. These are the busiest times for ED. October is huge, too. If you want, just do ED next winter and you'll be able to hear crickets chirp and not have to worry about getting a production.:eeps:

Wow, only $1400 for 2? I thought the 2-for-1 deal was on unrestricted fares only, which (as far as I've seen) wind up in the $2k range (from NY, anyway). That sounds like a pretty great deal for summer.

wait, so about these ED dates being filled... is it vehicle specific? I am hearing all these dates being filled up for E90's, 92's, and 93's, but what about cars like the X3, which don't have much demand? It's not really about just the dates. With April being the first month for E93 335i ED pick up, dates got filled up pretty quickly. Now with May, we have better weather and tourist season picks up, so dates can get filled up, but not all dates. The biggest issue has been the popularity of the E93, E92, and E90.
So I have to agree with e36M3er: shoot over a pre-res. for any other model and there shouldn't be too much trouble.
If you really, really want an E93, then get the 328i model. You shouldn't have a problem there. If you'd like to make a reservation, I'll be available most days except for Wednesday's and Sundays. :D

I just got confirmation for a June 11 pickup date, E92 335. We sent in the pre-res form back in late January. Also received happy news when my CA told me that I was price protected from before the March price increase. This came as a pleasant surprise as I had not expected this to be the case. So two good news at once!
As for the person mentioning airfare, I'm flying non-stop, San Francisco-Munich, roundtrip in the heart of June for ~$2000 for the 2-4-1 Lufthansa deal. $1000/ticket is a lot for me, but I wasn't able to find anything close to this on other airlines for friday night departure, Sunday return, and non-stop both ways. So in the end, I'm really happy with the Lufthansa deal.
Best of luck to everyone trying to get their dates!

See. If you placed your order way back, then you're order banked.
I had alot of guys who were pre-ordered from Jan and Feb.. Anybody who recently tried to submit a pre-res. early this month for May and June, unfortunately might find themselves without a locked reservation.

Do you mean only convertible and coupe or sedans too? I wonder what's the current situation with availability of 335i sedans.
All 335i models. Like I mentioned earlier, I had to sacrifice an allocated 335i for a Fest member because they were good to go on a 335xi and we switched to a 335i after we saw what rates were on the xi. There's not gonna be many centers willing to do this and even one guy here got his price raised b/c it came out of allocation.

LOL :banghead:
This thread is totally misnamed. If you really think it's an ED date that is full, try this... Once they tell you you can't pick up your 335 until some certain date, change your order to an X3, and see if an earlier date suddenly appears....
Put in a request on 3/14 for a 4/23 pick up of a 650. Received confirmantion today!

I guess that proves e36M3r's point...it seems many of the dates are full for the 335 models, and thus makes the title of the original post a little misleading. I think the OP meant well and was trying to help himself and others. either way this was good information to support what e36M3r was trying to say.

Unreal: :banghead:
Contrary to the implication and likely unbeknownst to the writer this once again has nothing to do with ED pickup dates, and really nothing to do with ED.
Please everyone keep in mind the "May and June" are "gone" comment refers to the 335 and NOT available ED dates which is implied by this post and thread. :thumbdwn:

I was told today that a bulletin went out to dealers saying that there are no May or June dates available for 3-series coupes or convertibles (not only the 335). Please don't shoot the messenger!! Can anyone confirm?

Recieved a production number today with a date of 5/30. Was told that slots are filling quickly. Now to find a lender with both good rates and a familiarity with ED.

:nono: Let's be clear. ED's not a mess. At least they offered an alternative and that is if your center has an allocation and willing to use that allocation for your ED, the date will be met, otherwise, schedule for a later date.
The E90-93 models production slots for ED have been fulfilled as they have limited allocation and not unlimited allocation. Simple supply and demand.

There are no issues with 328i's. You should be able to get a 328i Vert in June even.

All of May and June are full for ed. This information came from New Jersey stating that for all 335i coupes, sedan, and convertibles May and June dates were completely book the earliest dates start the first week of July.
BMW production can't keep up with the basic supply and demand for this model car!!!

For 335i E90-93's. One should be fine for the other models. May is pretty much out of the question anyway. Outside chance for late May.

Adrian sounds like BMW's ED needs some computer updates. CA's are FAXING??? their orders in? What happened to e-mail? Online order forms etc. At 25 cars per day, 6500 a year,it's not that many in the scheme of things i.e.300k bmw's sold in the US. I think there must be a better way. Have a freind who did MB Ed and had an answer on a confirmed date in 3 days, they also have Much better company arranged trips available. The conde nast offerings are EXPENSIVE> look at the MB offering some time. It is a good deal. Whoever manages Ed need to wake up to what the competion offers. my 2 cents Cheap

Actually one of the key people at BMW European Delivery used to be one of the lead people at Mercedes Euro Delivery. I'm guessing her prior experience will be an asset to BMW in "modernizing" its program. Like you, I would really like to see something akin to Mercedes Black Forest tour package made available to BMW buyers. For approximately a thousand dollars you get 5 nights for two at some of Europe's top rated hotels.

Northcar that is exactly right. I had to talk the wife out of a Mercedes, she really wanted it, but mostly because she saw that Black Forest tour catalog. I have promised her something similar, now if BMW can get it's act together and let me know if I can pick up on July 13th, then I can book a similar trip, but at MUCH higher prices than MB offered. I placed the order on March 19th. CA said two weeks or more to hear back. Said their fax machines were down for two days when she first sent it in. Sounds like they are shuffling and sorting these papers manually. Probable faxing to Euorpe while there at it. Glad were are not faxing each other on this site! Cheap

Adrian - I'm interested in LCI 550i for early SEP ED pickup. Haven't sealed a deal yet however. Any idea how that is looking for pickup dates?
Follow-up question: Are the ED pickup dates filling up by the model (335 vs. 5-series, etc) or are there other limiting factors that may play into ED pickup date availability (such as logistic / personnel limitations at the delivery center, etc...)? Curious to learn how it all works...
Thanks! Scott in RI

Scott,
There's just a huge demand for 335i's E90-93. I don't think there's really much of an issue with the other models, but there's also the logistical capacity limit that the ED center can handle in terms of deliveries per day. There shouldn't be a problem with Sept. delivery, but expect late Sept. to fill up quickly because of Oktoberfest. I'd recommend putting the order in the cue by June or even July at the latest.

It has nothing to do with the Welt opening. There's just so much demand for the E92 and E93 that all the ED production slots got scooped up. It's been this way for various models including the 5 at one point I recall. Plus, it's spring and summer. These are the busiest times for ED. October is huge, too. If you want, just do ED next winter and you'll be able to hear crickets chirp and not have to worry about getting a production.:eeps:
adrian, any truth about the delivery center being closed for 2 wks in october for transition to new welt location?

I placed my order for an e90 335i on 4/4/07. My CA gave me a copy of an email to him today from the BMW ED Department, which says the "Reservation Has Been Accepted". It lists my requested date of 6/11 as exactly that: "Requested Delivery Date". It contains a Reservation No. and a Production Number. It also says "the production number has been transferred into your center's allocation". Is this normal ED wording or does this mean that the dealer pulled an allocated car to allow me to have my requested ED date?
The CA says we are good to go on June 11.

for those of you shooting for june/july/august ed dates, what kind of deals are you getting for airfares? i did a travelocity search which gave me a best price of $1200. this would certainly negate the savings of ed. anyone have any suggestions of getting a better airfare deal?
Look at airfares on LTU.COM They have great airfares from NY to Munich (via Dusseldorf). Fares on Lufthansa/United are MUCH higher - at least from NY.

Before I booked LTU from Las Vegas, I looked at Lufthansa, USAir, kayak.com, etc. The next cheapest flight (open jaw; LV to Munich, Vienna to LV) was $1700 at Lufthansa. For $1140 I went with LTU (and it is non stop from LV to Dusselldorf). Still expensive, but it is July.

What happens if you book a non-refundable ticket with a carrier other than Lufthansa, and your ED date changes? Is it true that only with Lufthansa, you can then change your reservation without additional charge?

If you book a non-refundable ticket, airlines will likely charge you money to change the dates. LTU charges $100 per change. Don't know about other airlines. I first booked a ticket on USAir, but luckily that ticket was refundable. Took them a week, but I got a refund.
If you are planning on getting a non-refundable ticket, probably should wait until you get a confirmation from BMW unless your date is so far out, that it is unlikely that BMW would have that date unavailable.
