OK - about time to put new tires on the '04 X3 as I am fast approaching 45,000 miles and I am questioning whether I should get an alignment.

I have noticed - the outside shoulder of the left front is slightly more worn than the outside shoulder of the right front. Both back tires are wearing evening.

There is no pull in the steering wheel or drift if you let go of it on a flat road.

Is it possible the inceased left front shoulder wear is the result of freeway ramps and not an alignment issue? I hit six to eight on/off ramps everyday M-F - all which curve to the right... and of course - I am usually at double the posted ramp speed. ;)

Any opinions?

An alignment at the BMW Service Center runs @ $275.00.

Thanks-
T

On a level surface (and a safe area), does the car pull left or right with no hands on the wheel? Aka does it drift left/right naturally w/o steering input? If so, you probably need an alignment.

Find an indy shop to do the alignment for half of what your dealer charges. Even my dealer doesnt charge that much, and i still got it done elsewhere and saved $30.
