View Full Version : help a newbie with inlet manifold pipes please

hi i have bought a 318tdse which was in lots of bits but now i have most of it back togther but i am stuck on the pipes for the inlet manifold all i want is someone to tell me where they go the pics should be straight forward.

Bob, I'm really not sure what I'm looking at so I can't figure it out. I have a Bentley Manual. If you do a search on this forum, you'll find a pdf file that you can download. I would get that, then read through carefully about the project you're working on. It's really helpful and may answer all of your questions. Better yet, I'll do it for ya...

Or just left click this link and "save as"...it'll take awhile...like 45 minutes but it's great. Ihave a paper copy as well and I find it easier to use electronic documents when I'm searching, paper works best in the shop, though!

cheers for that its the pipes that connect the diesel pump and the underside of the inlet manifold all them numbers connect toghether somehow but i will save that file it might help
cant download file it says site not found and tried right clicking and save as and same message

WOW awesome find on the bentley manual.
back on topic, tube #7 looks like it connects to #6.
The strategy that I use to reconnect vaccuum lines and wires, is from the factory, the lines come with very little excess. So, if it looks like there is too much slack, or the line isnt long enough to connect where you think it should, keep looking because there will be a logical place for it.

in case this will help someone else and juat one more for me here is what i know now
1 still not sure:(
2 goes to the underside of the inlet manifold :)
3 goes to the underside of the inlet manifold as well :)
4 goes to the other end of number 7 :)
5 is the diesel pipe that connects to the first inj with pipe 9 :)
6 still not sure :(
7 goes to the connecter on the inner wing but the bottom :)
8 goes to the same connector but the top :)
9 see number 5 :)
