A good friend of mine is going to be listing his car for sale this week but I thought I would put it out here prior to his official notice.
1999 540i
54xxx miles
6 speed
Sport package
CD Changer
Xenon
He had AC compressor replaced this summer, tires ~ 60%
More specs and photos available upon request.
I think he is looking for reasonable offers over $30,000
Color?
Mods or stock? If mods, what mods?
Phil, this sounds like the car for you. :eeps:

Sorry how could I forget........... :banghead:
Green (Oxford, I believe), tan interior
Also had CWP
I have only two BMW color aversions-
-Any BMW green green on the exterior and
-The baby blue leather that BMW calls "Grey Montana Leather"
Give me any other exterior and any other interior and I'm fine with it.
I was going to debate if I really needed a wagon or if an E39 sedan would be space enough. Thankfully it's green and I no longer have to even think about it. :D
Sorry.

You need the wagon for your Home Depot runs. And the Montana Grey is not Baby Blue, especially in the 5. You need to make an appointment with your eye doctor. What did your wife say about the 5 series choice?

I think we're pretty much decided that, from a practicality standpoint, the 5er wins hands down. And practicality is why we would be bothering in the first place.
That specific 5er I linked I am not going to bother contacting the seller on. One, it is too far away and, two, I really feel compelled to buy any BMW I am going to buy from my long time salesman at VOB. He has always gone above and beyond for me and I only asked him to start looking for me this past Saturday. And my only criteria were 5-spd, sport package, no green exterior and no grey interior. Seriously.
If I could stand the baby blue, I'd seriously think about THIS listing which is local for me-
2000 528iT SPP 5-spd 26,763 miles - $33,950

One of my friends is looking for a car exactly like that, but it must be black or silver.

Tom,
Your loyalty to your salesman is commendable, but your market is so thin, you need to get what you can, where you can. As far as the local one, don't be stubborn and go look at it. Unless you have seen the fiver grey interior in person and ruled it out, the picture is totally NON-REPRESENTATIVE of what the interior of mine looks like. That whole car is blue in the pic, even the silver. If it were any bluer, the red brick would be blue. My 5 interior is grey and only grey and no one would mistake it for anything but. Furthermore, you owe it to yourself to drive this wagon with the specs you're looking for.
Now, what did your wife say?

I think we're going to make a move, but we're in no hurry. Since we'll be selling a convertible, we want to wait a month or two until it is prime convertible selling season. And then we want to wait to get the right price for our car. It is VERY low mileage and in perfect condition. Garaged all it's life, frequent oil changes, the whole shebang (except wax - it's never been waxed - but I might just wax it before listing it).
If that car is still available next weekend, I might go by and drive it. I'm heading out in that general direction for the NCC karting event, so I'll be on that side of town.

But in THAT pic, grey looks alright.
Way back in the purchasing decision that resulted in the 330i, I drove an Orient Blue/Grey 528iT SPP, 5-spd at the same dealer that has this silver one. And I drove a silver/grey 540iT at the Komen Drive one year.
But I'll concede that looking again won't hurt. And I know that, with my specs, I can't be too choosy.
Again with the baby blue crap :banghead:
